Quick Guide to Fixing PC Errors
It's important to understand why computer errors occur, and what you can do to prevent at least a part of them. It's also essential to have software ready to fix computer errors fast so you can go on with your work and entertainment. You will find such advice below.
Why Does My Computer Have Errors?
There is no perfect software so you will have to fix errors on PC eventually.
- Cluttered Registry - all software that you install modifies the registry in some way. Even after uninstalling a program part of the registry entries that it created remain intact. Officially this is so if you reinstall the program it will remember the settings you used - however, it can really slow down your PC in the long run. Crucial registry entries related to your OS such as system settings or file associations can get malformed, and the registry will get fragmented with usage, further slowing down your computer.
- Corrupted Files - these occur when your computer is interrupted while reading or writing a file (for example, if you shut down your PC while some programs are still working, or if there's a power outage). Also note that all HDDs have bad sectors but they're able to mark them as such on-the-run and do not attempt to write any data there. However sometimes new bad sectors occur in a place where files are already stored, which can result in system file corruption, PC instability or errors, and loss of important data.
- Conflicting Software - although a more rare occurrence in modern days, some software can conflict resulting in crashes and errors. This usually happens with buggy antivirus or firewall programs. Furthermore, some software might be incompatible with the operating system itself (especially if you use a newer one such as Vista or Windows 7) or might modify the system files in a way that causes it to become unstable.
These are just some of the most common reasons that can cause your computer to crash, freeze, or have a fit throwing one error message after another at you. Even the Windows OS itself isn't perfect and can become unstable, especially after installing new updates. Thankfully, there is an easy way to fix PC errors free of charge and quick!

Tips and tricks for a secure, fast and error-free PC.
- Use Common Sense When Online - this might seem obvious, but a lot of people still fall for it every day. Do not click on suspicious links, double-check the URL bar when typing in your password for any website, and avoid opening attachments unless you're sure that's the file you wanted to receive. Following these simple tips can actually prevent a lot of trouble!
- Backup Your Data - always keep a copy of important files on a location other than your PC, such as a DVD disk or a USB drive. You can also use a free automatic online backup service such as Mozy
for additional security.
- Use an Antivirus - many PC errors can be caused by computer viruses and other malicious software (aka malware). It's a good idea to have an antivirus program monitoring your computer at all times so it can catch viruses before they infect your PC. Free software such as PC Tools AntiVirus
should be enough for the average home user.
- Use a Firewall - a firewall protects your computer from online intruders and hackers as well as controls which programs can access the internet. Firewall software of some sort is essential for a secure PC. Try the free version of ZoneAlarm
for award-winning protection!
Having a stable and protected PC is not hard to achieve - and you don't need expensive and bloated software for that either. Hopefully you found these tips for fixing PC errors and securing your computer helpful! Feel free to leave a comment on your way out.

- I have been using the free version of ZoneAlarm myself without problems. It is definitely better than Windows built-in firewall because it also monitors outgoing traffic and lets you block applications connecting to the internet (Windows fw only works for incoming traffic). However you have to pay attention to unblock every single application that requires internet access. Games, torrents, etc.
