Welcome to Flagstaff

Founded in the last part of the 19th Century as a logging and farming community, Flagstaff, AZ grew with increased railroad traffic across the southwest. By the turn of the century, the Lowell Observatory was located here, along with a "normal school" (now NAU).

The iconic Route 66 is the main street through downtown, and over 120 trains, mostly freight but also Amtrak passenger) pass through town daily.

Flagstaff is a great place for outdoor activities. It also features many art galleries, eclectic shops, coffeehouses, and more.

This page is intended for visitors and new area residents to give an overview of Flagstaff life.
