Out came the compact and peering into the mirror, ladies would pat powder on their faces. Next, they would carefully outline and fill in their lips with a deep red color. The eyes of a flapper were dark and smoky framed by finely plucked eyebrows. For the face, the eyebrow was lined in black or brown eyeliner sloping down just past the corner of the eye. Red, brownish reds, plum and orange lipstick were the lip colors of the mid-1920's.

Embellishments such as buckles, bows and sequins adorned heels over two inches high. Pointed toes were in style then, just as they are now. The cloche hat fit snugly on the head framing the face and nearly covering the eyes. Brimmed hats became stylish towards the end of the decade. Worn as a casual accessory, hats made of straw were seen at the beach. Silk stockings became an important accessory once hems went up. I like the idea of some of these great fashions making a comeback but really feel there are just not enough people who take care and can pull it off these days. They might do it for a special occasion but these woman dressed with class anytime they were out in public! I love the "T-strap shoes and little peek-a-boo heels" as you so delightfully described them and am a sucker for the neat hats these women wore. Oh these were the days..... thanks for sharing and all the wonderful pictures.
