Thank you for all your advice and list of writing markets. Just wrote a thousand-word story and wondering how and where to publish it. It is a bit raw and needs some editing.

Very interesting lens. I had heard of the term before but had no idea what it meant. Thanks for enlightening me. I'll be checking out some flash fiction in the very near future.

I enjoy reading flash fiction. I wonder sometimes if this is because of my shorter attention span that seems to come along with the aging process. I think short fiction is also a good example of great writing talent in its use of few well-chosen words to tell a well-written tale.

Interesting. Is there any sort of real money to be made with this or is it more of just a hobby?
  • LindaJM Jan 10, 2012 @ 3:32 pm | delete
For me, it is writing practice. Sometimes I post my stories to my blog. Eventually I'll make a book of them and put them on Amazon in Kindle and paperback. So I'll probably make money, though I don't expect it to be a lot.

Vestal Review pays its writers. I had a whole novel in flash fiction, My Life at First Try, and was paid quite nicely for it.

This is a genre I have just learned about. I find it quite interesting and am formulating story ideas. Thanks for more insight

Good ideas here! I write flash fiction, as well. I have entered my work into a contest recently.

I have also written flash fictions and I enjoy very much when I try to maintain the word count. Some of my flash fictions are less than 400 words, but I have never tried to write under 200 words. The links you have provided here seems to be very useful. I will sure check them.

Great idea of writing short stories. I think it should help to develop creativity. Surely, I will try it.
  • CAMpics Jul 17, 2011 @ 11:46 am | delete
Thanks, enjoyed the read. I write 'shorts' too.

Wow! I've never heard of this. My friend is working on her literary fiction pieces and we talk about her writing all the time. This will give me a new topic for tomorrow.

love it! And I love microfiction (that is what i call it). I would love to someday have a "book club" where people wrote microfiction and got together to discuss it. There is so much room for interpretation - it can deep really quick!

I'm very excited about this genre -- which I just discovered but know very little about. Your lens is a great guide and I'm bookmarking it for future reference. And blessing it NOW.

Thanks, Resabi! Your blessing is a great thing to wake up to this morning! I hope the page helps many writers to experience the joy of flash fiction!
