What is a Flash mob?

A Flash Mob is a group of people that come together in public, and perform an act, usually in sync, for a brief period of time and then disperse casually. These acts are usually entertainment, maybe even pointless (but still awesome). But some mobs do acts that have a meaning, as a symbol of something, or trying to get a message out there.
The first noticeable flash mob was created by Bill Wasik, back in 2003, in Manhattan, New York. In a retail store, over 100 people gathered around a rug and claimed they were all buying it together. Then 200 people gathered at the Hyatt hotel and applauded in sync for about 15-20 seconds. Then people crowded up a shoe boutique pretending to be a tourist group. With this being new to everyone, I'm sure they made Manhattan an angry place that day! But hey, it's awesome no matter what you say.

This is Worldwide Pillow Fight Day, and international flash mob that started in 2008, with over 25 cities participating worldwide. It is the largest flash mob ever, and it is still done today! Seems like an ongoing tradition, a very fun one too! This particular video is from this year, in New York City. Enjoy!
