Flashlight the Way!

Flashlights have always been one of those things that were always important to have, but were usually neglected and forgotten about until they were needed. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a friend or relative's house and saw some old, empty or unusable flashlight laying around.  What's the point???  Its like having an empty fire extinguisher in the kitchen!

Like fire extinguishers, I've always had at least one flashlight (working) someplace in the house, and also in the car.  Usually, they were the big MagLights because they threw off the most light, and were pretty tough to boot!

As time went by, flashlights, like everything else, became more powerful, smaller, longer lasting, and more affordable.  Carrying them on my person soon became an important idea after the attacks of September 11.  I read many stories of people being severely hinderd because they could not see where they were going in smoke-filled, or otherwise lightless environments.

Many of these small yet powerful flashlights can easliy be dropped into a pocket or purse.  If you are a business type, get something a little bigger for the briefcase!  At the minimum, everybody can afford to have one of the little keychain lights which are so small they are harly noticed.  There is really no reason to not have SOMETHING that can help you "light the way".

These flashlights also serve practical day-to-day functions...

Flashlights can aid you when walking the dog at night or when you have car troubles.  They can be handy when you need to read a menu or other text in a low-light environment.  they come in handy when you have to check a connection on the back of your computer, and in some creative ways they can even be used defensively.  Flashlights, as tools are very versitile, and you do not have to spend a fortune on a well-built light that may literally help to save your life.

Worthy flashlights from Amazon...

A wise man once said "It is better to have a flashlight and not need it, than to need a flashlight and not have it!"

"light" thoughts

One of the neatest things I was able to do because I had one of these little flashlights on me was to help extract my Niece's hamster from within the couch!

Yup, she crawled right inside the frame somehow! My poor Niece! She thought Hammy was lost forever! I knew that I would get her out somehow (hopefully without cutting open the couch!)

I was able to open a small hole underneath, and poke in my little Gerber tasklight to look around. I spotted the little escapee, and was able to strategically place a fresh strawberry in a spot that I could grab her. It worked! Thanks to a little light, we made a potentially bad situation work out well!

I amazes me that more people don't regularly carry a flashlight, especially with how small and bright modern flashlights are. I carry on me daily Surefire E1B which is a small, extremely tough, and amazingly bright. It's probably a bit expensive for most though. At the very minimum, one should look into purchasing a CR123 powered lithium flashlight. Going with a lithium flashlight, one can have a light that is 3x as bright as a 2 D-cell flashlight at a fraction of the size and weight.

Hello world!

I set up this Lens because I love compact flashlights.  I like them, so I thought it would be cool to talk about them, review...
