Speed Up Your Metabolism to Flatten Tummy!
Metabolism is the mechanism our body uses to burn calories. Think of it as your body's "motor."
The faster your metabolism operates the more calories you'll burn and lose weight in the process.
As we age, our metabolism naturally slows down. So, what's a body to do to keep the metabolism up and the weight down?
There are lots of factors that count in the role that your metabolism plays in your ability to lose weight, including your age and lifestyle.
The truth is you don't have to starve yourself to lose weight.
In fact, the best way to rev up your metabolism (that calorie-burning chemical process) is to eat!
Some of you may have to work harder than others to speed up the process, while others just need to regulate their lifestyle and diet habits.
Most of what we think of as "diet foods" won't help jump start your metabolism.
They may be low in calories and even high in fiber, but if you make those foods the mainstay of your diet, you'll gain weight almost immediately after you return to a normal diet.
That's because your metabolism has become sluggish while you were dieting and has lost its ability to burn excess calories. To effectively "fire up" your metabolism, keep in mind the following tips:
* Don't skip meals. It's better to eat four to six small meals per day than to skip a major daily meal -- especially breakfast.
* Cardio workouts (the kind that get your heart rate up) are great for burning calories and to get your metabolism moving at a faster rate.
* Drink plenty of water so that your body can rid itself of the toxins that pulls down your metabolism to a sluggish level.
* No matter what you've heard about carbohydrates, remember that they help to boost your metabolism.
* Tone your muscles. Use weights to firm and tone your muscles, ridding yourself of fat and replacing it with lean muscles.
* Don't eat just before bed time. Give your body a chance to take care of excess calories before it slows down for sleep.
* Lower your alcohol intake. Alcohol is like a "go slow" sign for your metabolism. Keep it to a minimum.
Begin now to rev up your metabolism. Remember, when your metabolism improves, so will your shape!

Shrink Your Stress and Shrink Belly Fat

Stress is one of the most difficult challenges in the modern world.
Especially when economic times are hard, it seems that stress just continues to mount.
What you may not know is that stress can affect more than just your thoughts and emotions. In fact, when it comes to your body, getting rid of stress can actually help you to shrink belly fat.
Stress causes hormonal imbalances in the body. In particular there is a hormone called cortisol that becomes unbalanced and causes fat to accumulate around the waistline.
When you shrink your stress, you shrink belly fat. Here are some tips to help you accomplish your goals.
First, take a look at the things that are causing you the most stress. For some people, financial crisis is the cause for anxiety and for others it's simply being overscheduled.
Maybe you have relationships in your life that are adding to your stress. It could be that your job is getting you down. And what's even more difficult is when you have stress coming from more than one source.
You'll need to do whatever you can to eliminate the things that are causing stress. In some cases that's easy - like cancelling an optional activity that's taking too much of your time. But in other cases, you won't be able to get rid of the things that are causing stress.
In that case, you'll shrink your belly fat and your stress levels by learning strategies for coping with the stress you have. For example, physical activity is often a great way to tackle the physical symptoms of stress such as fatigue, headaches, and muscle pains.
In addition, you'll begin to burn fat from all areas of your body - and eventually you'll shrink belly fat.
Activities such as meditation and yoga can also help to calm your mind and relax your body. You'll begin to have balance again and your body will grow healthier.
You'll notice that you'll begin to shrink belly fat as you restore a sense of peace and wellness. Even if you just take five to ten minutes each day to quiet your mind and relax, you'll achieve benefits.
Keeping a journal is another good way to shrink belly fat and stress. It will help you to get ideas on paper and get to the root of what is bothering you. It will also help you to keep track of ideas that can help to solve your problems.
Eat More Slowly And Get Slimmer
Nutrition, as you well know, is the process by which living organisms receive and utilize materials necessary for maintaining life. This includes growth, repair and the supply of energy. Foodstuffs, made up mainly of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, contain energy which is liberated in the body. The actual energy can be measured in a test tube.
The energy which food yields is expressed in units of heat know as calories. So, a calorie is the amount of heat energy necessary to raise the temperature of I kilogram of pure water from 15° to 16° F. Now, when you read about a calorie, you will know that it's only the energy needed to heat one tiny bit of water one degree. Not so mysterious, after all!
The usable part of this energy varies, of course. The following standard values have been generally adopted:
One gram of carbohydrates yields 4.1 calories; one gram of protein, 4.1; and one gram of fat, 9.3. For ordinary purposes, the gram of carbohydrate yields 4 calories; the gram of protein, 4 calories; and the gram of fat, 9 calories.

Each of these foodstuffs has its own part to play. And right now you may as well realize that, in natural foods, you can't possibly eat one of these without eating some of the others.
You may have a "high" protein diet or a "high" carbohydrate diet, but you can't completely eliminate any of them. Diets that tell you not to mix them are based on imagination more than fact.
Carbohydrates supply the energy that yields heat and does mechanical work. They are the least expensive and the most easily obtainable source of muscle energy. But people who are poor and who must eat food that is almost all starch become too fat.
That is why so many of our poorer people, even if they do hard work, grow extremely fat on a seemingly simple diet of bread, potatoes and other starchy vegetables, with perhaps beer as a beverage-and very little meat or other protein food.
Fats, on oxidation, liberate heat and contribute to the bodily warmth. They also furnish energy for muscular work. But you must realize, now, that each fat gram is over twice as heavy as his carbohydrate and protein brothers.
Proteins are the most expensive foodstuffs and experts are always wrangling over the amount needed for human health and maintenance. You'll find you need a lot of protein when you begin to reduce your weight.
Proteins serve mainly to repair worn out tissues and to provide new tissues for growing organisms, but they may be converted into the same substances, and accomplish the same purposes, as carbohydrates and fats.
All three are needed in the body. And when the body gets more than it needs, the rest is usually stored as fat. And we've completed the circle. Food makes fat!
Another group of food factors which are absolutely essential to health are the vitamins. Although unrelated chemically, they serve as part of the enzyme system, and each one exercises a distinct form of control over physiological processes.
Now, what happens to these foods when we eat them?
Digestion starts in the mouth. Saliva maintains the water balance and actually aids digestion. Chewing helps, too.
The only pleasure we get from food is while it is in our mouths-yet people who are fat invariably eat too rapidly, do not chew their food well, and swallow it before all of the flavors have been released.
This is odd, because fat people love to eat, and they are fat only because, in the last analysis, they eat too much-for them. Of course, there are exceptions.
You probably do know of a fat person who eats slowly and chews his food well, and enjoys every mouthful of it to the last crumb. He is unusual. The average fat person gobbles his food!

Burn Belly Fat
When it comes to belly fat, there's almost nothing more frustrating.Belly fat makes your clothes fit improperly and can be uncomfortable. But sometimes it feels like you'll never be free from it.
One critical element for burning belly fat is exercise. But you have to do more than crunches to burn belly fat for good.
The first thing you need to know is that belly fat is also related to genetics. That means that some people are genetically preset to store fat around the midsection.
At one time, belly fat was probably very protective during times of cold and famine. But in modern times, belly fat is no longer helpful or in fashion.
While you can't determine where fat will be stored on the body, there are things you can do to remove fat from your body overall. Eventually, your belly fat will be reduced by following a consistent exercise plan.
The first thing you need to add to your daily routine is aerobic activity. This is exercise where you move your body for at least 10 minutes at a time.
It helps to increase your heart rate, condition your lungs, and burn fat. When you burn fat, eventually you'll burn belly fat.
Examples of appropriate aerobic activity include walking, jogging, swimming, biking, and rollerblading. If you prefer sports, you may want to try sports such as basketball, soccer or tennis that keep the body moving at a constant pace. Sports like golf or bowling help you to move, but not in an aerobic way.
As you add aerobic activity to your routine, you'll burn fat during the exercise itself. But the news that's even better is that you'll raise your metabolism over time. That means you'll be burning more calories even at rest.
You'll also need to improve your muscular strength. Stomach crunches, pilates, and even lower body strength exercises can target the core muscles of your stomach.
While you won't specifically remove belly fat with these exercises, you'll provide a well-toned foundation so that your abs will be attractive as the fat is burned. In addition, the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be.
With exercise, you can burn belly fat and get the physique you've always wanted. Belly fat can be unsightly and make you feel bad about your body. When you work hard to burn belly fat, you'll find that you're happier and healthier.
