.. and an apple a day
Allow me to tweak the time tested aphorism by stating, "An apple a day keeps the doctor at bay." You like? OK, so it's a bit corny but the ageless adage is so very true. Eat 1-2 (or more) apples every single day, along with 4-6 bottles of water and your human engine will keep running clean.
There are a few other inexpensive and simple ways to consistently maintain good health. There are however, a few vices that you must stay away from otherwise you will be totally defeating the purpose of a healthy diet.

There are a few other inexpensive and simple ways to consistently maintain good health. There are however, a few vices that you must stay away from otherwise you will be totally defeating the purpose of a healthy diet.
It is imperative to stay away from:
- Carbonated Soda is toxic, poisonous, lethal, venomous, and can cause serious harmful effects on the body. Drinking soda speeds up the aging process. Carbonated soft drinks have an alarming amount of sugar, calories and harmful additives that have absolutely no nutritional value. Studies have linked soda to osteoporosis, obesity, tooth decay and heart disease.
- Excessive Alcohol plain and simply put, corrodes the liver and creates a multitude of over health issues. Do you need to be intoxicated to have a good time? Do you need alcohol to relax? To lose your inhibitions? To have fun? If you honestly answered YES to any of the aforementioned question then you are not in control of your alcohol consumption and have an addiction that you need to quickly rid yourself of. If you answered NO to the questions then what's the point? Why even drink alcohol at all? Most of it doesn't necessarily taste good. Sure, we've all heard that a glass or two of wine won't hurt you but what generally happens with this rather misleading bit of advice is that most people will have more than the allotted one or two glasses. And at some point the addiction sets in, whether you care to admit it or not.
- Smoking Cigarettes is a no-brainer. There are no positive effects whatsoever to smoking tobacco. ZERO. You are allowing that little "cancer stick" to agitate, coerce, control, manipulate, and finally, kill you.
- A Poor diet over a period of time is prolonged suicide. You are slowly but surely shortening your life. It's not necessary to point out what's "good" and what's "bad" for you because at this point in the game you know very well what you should and should not be consuming. Sure, we all slip sometimes but when you fall short, dust yourself off and come back with a strong workout. Follow that up with several days of healthy eating . If you eat unhealthy once per quarter or so, you'll pretty much offset your dietary "falling off the wagon" because, for the most part, your diet is consistently healthy and you're exercising.

Fish Oil
There is evidence from multiple studies that support the intake of recommended amounts of DHA and EPA in the form of fish oil supplements. fish oil lowers triglycerides, reduces the risk of death from heart attack, dangerous abnormal heart rhythms, and strokes in people with known cardiovascular disease. This dietary supplement also slows the buildup of atherosclerotic plaques ("hardening of the arteries"), and slightly lowers blood pressure.
Along with the prevention of serious illnesses and heart disease, fish oil also reduces the risk of cancer and the symptoms and pain of arthritis. Joint tenderness and stiffness has been shown to decrease with regular intake of fish oil supplements. An added benefit is the fact that the Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil is believed to help with reverse the aging process.
Flaxseed Oil
Flaxseed oil is a blue flowering plant grown on the Western Canadian Prairies for its oil rich seeds. This natural oil is also known as Linseed Oil and is highly recommended for the general well being and whole body nutrition. Flaxseed oil is one of nature's richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids required for maintaining good health. It contains omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc.Omega 3's are crucial to good brain and nerve function, reduce arthritis, inflammation and pain, and help to lower cholesterol. Omega 3's aid the body in oxygen absorption.
Some of the more popular weight-loss products include linseed oil as a key component. Alpha Linoleic Acid (source of Omega 3 fatty acids), the lignans (protective anti-oxidants), along with the superior soluble fiber in whole flaxseed do the best job of lowering bad cholesterol and triglycerides.
