How to Get Noticed on Flickr

Tips for getting tons of photostream views, comments, favorited photos and awards. Ultimately, these traffic generating tips will help you get into Flickr Explore.

Always remember the basics:
1. Take great photos and upload your best
2. Write a proper title and add ample related tags
3. Invite your friends and connect with new ones
4. Post to appropriate groups
5. Fill out your profile
6. Favorite and comment on others' photos

And don't forget that Flickr is a fun social community, not the final say in how impressive your photography is. So, enjoy it!

Tags

What are tags?
Tags are like keywords or labels that you add to a photo to make it easier to find later. You can tag a photo with phrases like "catherine yosemite hiking mountain trail." Later if you look for pictures of Catherine, you can just click that tag and get all photos that have been tagged that way.

You may also have the right to add tags to your friends' photos, if you friends set that option in the privacy settings for their photos.

Here's a list of the 150 most popular tags.

One member, Striatic, has posted some great tips on the FlickrCentral discussion board.

Is there a limit on the number of tags I can add to a photo?
Yes. It's 75 tags per photo.

If you want to add new tags to a photo that has more 75 tags, you'll need to get the number of tags under that limit first.

Really helpful hints on using Flickr and getting noticed. I've had an account there for about a year and love visiting and commenting on other photos. Some really great ones out there. Thanks for the information. And I'm very pleased you came by my very first lens.

BTW, I love your photos on this lens, especially the cat!
