Helicopter & Glider Gift Flights

Give the gift of flight!

Flight training and aircraft ride gifts are unusual, and very special. My wife purchased a Helicopter discovery flight for me for Father's day and since I live close to the airport I was able to fly over my house. Most introductory flights also include the opportunity to try flying the aircraft. In the past I have taken glider rides as well as glider flight instruction.

I still need to try out parasailing, a balloon ride and if I get brave, an ultralight. In the mean time, I'll keep practicing these other types of aircraft with my flight simulation software.

Gift Ideas

Many different flight options exist

  • Romantic helicopter flight to dinner.
  • Scenic city or mountain flights.
  • Aerobatic flights (gliders only).
  • City lights flight.
  • Special occasions (Birthday).
  • Flight Training. Gifts that include flight instruction.

Glider Rides

A nice, fun quiet ride.

I try to go up in a glider at least once a year. I got hooked while taking Aviation Meteorology in college years ago and have paid for some glider flight instruction. My youngest son went on a ride with me when he was only 3 and he wants to fly again.

Lens Feedback

Please let me know if you have ever had a flight gift and on which type of aircraft.
Thanks!

My wife and I (also a pilot) took a helicopter ride while on vacation in Hawaii which was great; except one of the other passengers (a woman) got sick all over my wife!

Later we took a ride in a biplane aircraft which took us over the route the Japanese took to bomb Pearl Harbor.

    Great lens!

Conclusions

Maybe I just like flying. I assume this since I fly rockets, kites, gliders and now helicopters.

I have always enjoyed receiving flying gift whether they be paper airplanes, RC airplanes or best real aircraft rides especially when they include flight instruction.
