Hi there, I'm Jill, some say Jill of all trades and 'mistress' of none! :-)

This lensography is a catalogue of the lenses I have built in my time on Squidoo but I also hope that through it you will find out a little bit about me and what I am about.

My Latest Lenses

These are my latest lenses to be published.
I am getting into the swing of things now and the lens count is growing nicely... Thanks to all who have helped with questions I have had and commented constructively.

So... Who is flighty?

Well, you already know that my name is Jill :)

I live in Bradford which is in the county of West Yorkshire, UK, with my partner and my daughter, Flynn our rescued Greyhound, Tammy our somewhat elderly cat and Princess Fluffles (don't ask) our much younger, hyperactive, cat who, because she is far from being a princess, goes by the alternative name of Kit C!

My First Ever Lens Was Inspired By Our Rescued Greyhound

Greyhounds Anonymous - Life In The Slow Lane?

If you only visit one of my lenses please let it be this one and see for yourself what great pets greyhounds make and what appalling treatment some of the dogs bred for racing receive.

Why flighty02?

Its quite simple really... Its all to do with my last car! A Ford Fiesta Flight on an 02 registration plate.

I wish I could be more original and creative but sometimes I struggle even with what's in front of my face!

My Other Animals and Nature Lenses

What do I do for a living?

Well... for my sins I work in the field of traffic and highways.

I design things like road signs, junction improvements and traffic calming schemes... you know, those speed bumps that everybody complains about and nobody likes!

I am pleased to say that the sign shown isn't of my design, I snapped that one in The Gambia whilst on holiday!

Photo Phights

I have only one of these so fare but they are so much fun to do.... I have a few more ideas in the pipeline :-)

Raindrops On Roses And Whiskers On Kittens

Well not quite but below are a few of My Favourite Things

  • My partner, my daughter, our pets and family

  • my car

  • Quizzes, puzzles or anything to exercise my mind

  • My computer because I would never have met my partner otherwise

  • Holidays

  • Cooking

  • Bargains!

  • Seafood

My Food and Drink Lenses

My Vegetarian Recipe Lenses

What do I enjoy doing?

I quite like cooking... mainly Indian dishes, like curries, because I like spicy food, but I always like trying new things too so I tend to experiment a fair bit...

*ooh, ideas for new lenses springing to mind*

My Favourite Indian Recipe Book

Madhur Jaffrey's Ultimate Curry Bible

This is indeed the Ultimate Curry Bible!
I have made quite a lot of stuff from this book, either following the recipe to the letter or adapting it to suit what I have in the cupboard or to cut down on fat etc.
The thing is that everything I have made has turned out great, not even one culinary disaster! So for that reason alone I have to recommend this book.

Amazon UK customers get The Ultimate Curry Bible here.

My Featured Entertainment Lenses

The top five....

Since I have a few of these lenses now I have given them their own page, they can be found on my Entertainment Lensography

My Genealogy

One of the projects that I dip in and out of is trying to trace my family tree.

The Burnip family line (my maternal line) traces back mainly to the Co. Durham area of England including the places of Easington, Haswell, Wheatley Hill, Stanhope, Lanchester and Gateshead to name but a few.

I have yet to begin my paternal line (Holdsworth), maybe that's because I think it will be more difficult to gather the information, Holdsworth is quite a common name in these parts.

You have an interesting job. Did you know that in England they call 'speed bumps' Sleeping Bobbies?

I liked looking through your lenses, especially the food/drink related ones. I'm lensrolling it to my own lensography. Great work!

Hi Jill! I loved meeting you through your fantastic lensography! I actually did notice your Greyhound lens first, but not sure I have the "guts" to visit, I know it will break my heart. Sadly, I am aware of how these precious dogs are treated. Thank you for rescuing Flynn! You have a wonderful selection of lenses that I hope to visit soon! All the best in 2009! - Kathy
