Why You Need a Flip Dictionary

My Flip Dictionary is my most powerful writing resource. I use it constantly and consistently when writing prose, poetry, fiction, articles, letters, and sometimes even grocery lists!

This book is helpful for when you just can't think of the right word you want to use. It acts as a memory guide or a way to freshen up your vocabulary. The Flip Dictionary takes you from a word you know the meaning of to the word you want to use.

I find it indispensable for clear writing and finding specific words. It can be used for business writing as well as pleasure in addition to being a great help to anyone who loves doing crossword puzzles.

It's also a wonderful tool for Baby Boomers and women who suffer memo-pause. I use mine everyday. I think you will too!

For when you know what you want to say but can't think of the word.

Why I Love My Flip Dictionary

As a writer who is also approaching ...

As a person who is of Baby Boomer age ...

As a women entering Memo-pause ...

Okay ...
Lets just say I'm just not as young as I used to be and sometimes while I'm writing I lose my words. I don't know where they go. They just seem to disappear somewhere between my thinking them up and my putting them on the page. The Flip Dictionary always helps me find those mysteriously vanishing words and sometimes it even helps me find better ones.

By listing not only single words, but also common phrases, The Flip Dictionary makes it easy to get the perfect word for whatever I'm writing about, every single time.

Love it! Great read.

This would be great for me even when I'm NOT writing. I sometimes have the word in mind think it starts with such a letter & sounds like.... but usually can't think of it til later. I do agree in a way with SRitchieable (that its not her cup of tea) however I do leave a blank spot with a note (if needed to remind myself of it) Still sometimes it does not help. So I like the idea too bad they can't microchip it into my brain!

Rosina Wilson says:

Sounds nifty (whether you're over or under fifty)! I think I'll go do some clicking & get me one...

All right, now I have to get one too!

You already know I love it!

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

SRitchieable says:

Years ago, I read an article by an American author who said "If [in the flow of writing] you suddenly find you need a word for 'shovel' beginning with 'n' leave a blank [and a note to self] and keep writing." The author believed that by the time you came back to edit your work you would either 1) Have remembered whatever the word was or 2) Rewritten the material so much the need for 'shovel beginning with n' had disappeared. But I sometimes resort to the old family edition of Rodget's Thesaurus, and I own five or six dedicated books of quotations. Between all these resources, I don't think I need a specific flip dictionary - but thanks for making this lens about it! Its good to see that people still love words and want to find the best ones.
