What Does The Future Hold for the Florida Everglades?

The Florida Everglades is home to the Florida Panther, wood stork, the West Indian Manatee and thousands of other threatened plants and animals.

We need to Save the Florida Everglades before it's too late.

There may be some good news on the horizon.

"On June 24, 2008 The New York Times reported that the State of Florida had agreed to buy U.S. Sugar and all of its manufacturing and production facilities for an estimated $1.7 billion.[172]
Florida officials indicated they intended to allow U.S. Sugar to
process for six more years before dismissing its employees and
dismantling the plant. The area, which includes 187,000 acres (760 km²)
of land, would then be rehabilitated and water flow from Lake
Okeechobee would be restored. According to the
Times, the purchase will be the "largest ecological restoration in United States history".[172]"- EverGlades from Wikipedia
