Location is Key to your Florida Friendly Yard !

Just as with any project where you start is instrumental in how the finished product will turn out. Picking the location of the vegetation you place in your yard is crucial to its future growth.

When you start your research use a simple google search and choose the exact phrase of what you would like to know.

Example: "shady flowering florida plants"

or

"what flowering plants can I put in my Florida Friendly Yard"

or

"Florida Friendy back yard"

The search engine will take your primary words and bring you results. Look for sites that pertain to your interest.

Research the Plants to find the ones suitable for you landscape project.

Who ? or What is it we are looking at.

"I like to search for color arrangements and then find if the specifics to the plant I have chosen match my goals and conditions "Location" that I will plant them".

Where ?

"Say I have a 50% shady corner location next the house"

"I would like some tall green plants or neutral tone plants for the backdrop and some vibrant color splash set in some fragrance flowers and care free earth with some ground cover".

Take the time to investigate each plant you like until you are left with but a few good selections.

"Does my choice meet the condition of the environment I have selected".

Why ?

Think about why you are landscaping the area.

Are there certain conditions you may like to cover up or accentuate.

You should Draw out your Landscape plans

Florida Friendly Interactive

Taking the time upfront on any project to research and plan will without a doubt save you trouble in the long run.

Draw out a written idea that you have for your location on paper. I prefer to use colors pencils to get a better feel of the end result.

Once you have the area cleaned out and ready to build use a spray can to mark the earth where you want things to go.

Simply follow your drawing.

Florida Friendly Flower

Wild Orchid
"The flower that walks", the Indian; said,
And walking spreads its crown-like roots
Through forest glades and upland dales.
Moccasin flower or Lady's Slipper,
It matters not the name
Or if it be fair white or rose or tiny yellow kind
Tis ever rare and wondrous there
