Florida Group Insurance

Florida offers many insurance options for its residents, whether you are self-employed or not. It is always recommended, however, to shop around and make a thorough research and comparison before selecting your insurance company. There are several factors, such as age and health, make your situation unique and can influence the conditions of your plan. Below you will find an overview that will come in handy when looking out for insurance plan options.

Direct Insure

Group health insurance

Group health insurance plans are a great option even for small business owners. They tend to think that just because their businesses are too small they need to settle for pricey individual plans, but truth is, in Florida, even a two-person company is considered eligible for a Florida small group health insurance. Compared to individual insurance plans, these can be more flexible when it comes to health-related issues when applying. For the same reason, insurance companies need higher premiums to cover for potentially unhealthy people (which doesn't happen with individual health insurance, where they can be pickier). In order to qualify for a Florida Group Health Insurance Policy a business owner needs to prove the existence of a legitimate business by presenting documentation such as an occupational license, a wage report and/or articles of incorporation-this establishes the business as a "group" and therefore makes it suitable for a group health insurance plan.

Guaranteed issue small group health plan

Guaranteed issue means that a health carrier cannot deny coverage to a small employer based on the health status of one of its employees, a family member, or the overall group. In addition, each insurance company must renew its small employer health plan contracts every year, at the employer's discretion, unless there is non-payment of premium, the employer has committed fraud or intentional misrepresentation, or the employer has not complied with the terms of the health insurance contract. The Florida guaranteed issue small group health plans has an open enrollment period only during the month of August.
