    When I was a kid we used to go flounder gigging in the mouth of the Colorado River on the Gulf of Mexico. Walking in shallow water at night while holding a lantern. It was a lot of fun. Flounder are delicious!

    Fishing for flounder is great in general. They give a good fight but the best way to get flounder is gigging. Where I live on the Cape Fear River in North Carolina it is the most popular way to catch them.

    There's almost nothing better than freshly caught and fried flounder. My family used to go out on a charter boat out of Freeport NY once a year when I was young. Too crowded, but we always brought back a bunch of fish! Thank you for this page.

    I grew up on Long Island and loved flounder fishing. I've been in Missouri and central Texas now for thirty five years, and miss fresh flounder dramatically. Thanks for the lens.
