A Little About Flowboarding

Ranked #7,227 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #92,404 overall

What Exactly Is Flowboarding?

Never heard of flowboarding before? That's okay! Not a lot of people have. That's why I'm here to tell you all about it. Have you ever been skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, or skiing? Well, this sport is nothing like those other ones, but at the same time, a combination of them all! Flowboarding involves riding a bodyboard on an artificial wave and doing tricks. It is becoming an increasingly popular sport and is quite fun!

Who Can Flowride?

Old, young, fit, not-so-fit, big, small, the variety is endless

Flowriding is a sport for everyone! Where I flowride, there are kids as young as 8 years old flowriding to men as old as 60! There are also people from every stage of life. People that would never hang out together, like rebellious teenagers and older ladies, all come together with the common interest of flowriding. You don't need to be strong to flowride, as it is more learning to use your own weight against the wave and you don't need to be tall, or fast, or smart! All you need is a desire to learn and the time to learn it. Everyone is on a level playing field and everyone has the chance to become one of the best!

How Do I Flowride?

I'm interested, how does it work?

Although it may look quite simple at first glance, the sport is more difficult than you think. It took me quite a few times before I was capable of staying on the wave, and many times more than that before I could do a trick. You may not get it your first time, but it's crucial that you keep practicing so that you can find the right balance that keeps you on the wave.

There is a marvelous explanation of how to flowride on the Flowrider Website. It tells you all about the technique and the styles, and it also contains many helpful pictures.
