Where To Start With Flower Arranging Ideas
Flower arranging is fun, is a creative hobby and past time, however like with everything else in life, it has it's do's and don't. Of course you can simply go ahead and create something entirely unique of your own, however without knowing some basics, you might not do the most appealing floral arrangement ever.
So here are some flower arranging tips on starting with this rewarding craft.

Flower Arranging Equipment
Generally speaking flower arranging is not an expensive hobby. However you do need some equipment to get started.
General flower arranging equipment
* Pair of scissors or secateurs
* Bucket that holds your flowers and foliage while you're working
* Watering can
* Sharp knife
Specialized equipment
* Containers (jugs or jars)
* Plastic foam
* Stem holders (wire netting is good)
Flowers and plant foliage
You can use here fresh as well as foliage, berries, flowers, fruits and vegetables. It all depends on the type of floral arrangement you want to create.
For a fresh flower arrangement you need of course, fresh flowers which you can get from the local florist or nursery, or cut flowers from your own garden.
For a dry flower arrangement you will need preserved plant material. You can also mix this with fresh flowers for an interesting idea.
You can get some driftwood, which includes all sorts of weathered wood and branches for that extra touch. Just make sure you clean it first before using it. You can soak it during the night in water with some detergent. This will remove any residual insects and dirt.

Flower Arranging Ideas With Dahlias
Dahlias are popular summer flowers that lend themselves perfectly to flower arranging. Many times you can get blooms in beautiful colors such as pure white, orange, lemon yellow, pink, burgundy and lavender.
Beware though as they have rather short stems so if you want to create taller flower arrangements, you can use OASIS blocks one on top of the other.
You can arrange dahlias on their own or mixed in with other gorgeous flowers such as chrysanthemums.

Flower Arranging Ideas For Easter
There are many interesting flower arrangement designs that you can do for Easter. In most cases all you need is your container (in this case a basket goes quite well), the flower foam, a jar of water and a bit of newspaper that you tuck deep at the bottom of your basket.
This particular arrangement includes daffodils (gorgeous spring flowers), Dutch iris, tulips and tilia stems.

Flower Arranging Tip: Making Your Bulb Flowers Last Longer

If you want your bulb flowers for your arrangement to last longer, you need to buy them in bud. For example the daffodils need to be crisp, hard and should only start now to show some color.
If you are buying tulips, look for those that are still closed.
The flower arrangement should never lack plenty of water. If the flowers are always in water, they will invariably live longer. Avoid reusing water that was previously used for flowers.
The containers shoudl be clean, with no dirt or flower residue. You can use bleach to clean your jars properly.
The knife should be extremely sharp and cutting should be done at a slant (never straight horizontally). This ensures that the flowers will get all the needed water from the container.
If you see leaves fully immersed in water, remove them as they tend to grow toxic matter by the process of decay, which kills your flower quite fast.
The flower foam should be soaked in water as well.
Christmas Flower Arranging Ideas
Winter flower arranging is done with dried (or silk) flowers. One of the most popular one is the Christmas flower arrangement.
Hanging decorations, Christmas wreaths, flower arrangements on the table, these are all very popular types of holiday arrangements that can easily bring you to a party mood for the season.
For a Christmas table centerpiece you need to make the flower arrangement relatively low, so that people can see well each other across the table. For a nice contrast you can have a tall Christmas candle in the center. This adds that festive note that every Christmas dinner is known for.

November and December are the months when the garden clean up is made. This is why if you have a friend or relative that you know is an avid gardener, you can not go wrong with some practical gardening tools.

Here are some additional garden tools as gifts that you can give if you are not sure what to buy.
Ikebana - Japanese Flower Arranging

Maybe one of the most popular flower arranging activities is the art of Ikebana.
Ikebana is Japanese flower arranging and it is truly not only a way to arrange some flowers decoratively in a vase or container, but it is, indeed, an art form. One that the Japanese have brought to pure perfection. Its history dates back to at least 500 years.
While the most flower arrangements highlight the flowers and blooms, you will find in Ikebana flower arrangements that the stems, leaves and other flower plants are also emphasized.
Usually Ikebana is considered a minimalist approach to flower arrangement. You will not find too many different types of flowers included in the vase. The shape of an Ikebana arrangement is a triangle which has sides of 3 different lengths.
The three most important known styles of Japanese flower arranging are:
Nageire Style
Shoku Style
Moribana Style

Wedding Flower Arranging Ideas - Creating A Simple Bouquet
Flower arranging can get as complex as you allow it. For example creating a simple bouquet of flowers is also considered flower arranging. Ideas are plenty and you can make these simple arrangements in matters of minutes.
They are perfect for a 'get well soon' gift to any recovering person. Also they are usually given for weddings, anniversaries and with other birthday presents.
Creating a simple flower bouquet doesn't need any specific flower arranging knowledge, and you can get started with some floral tape, floral wire and of course your chosen flowers.
If you know for which even you are creating the bouquet, then you can easily match the flower colors to the dress. For example a wedding bouquet is usually white.
Steps to create a simple bouquet of flowers:
* Soak the fresh flowers in water to keep them fresh
* Wrap the floral wire around the stems in a spiral form to hold the stems in place
* Cut the stems to size at the bottom
* Take some floral tape to push the wire at the top fixed
* As you turn the stems, pull the tape downwards at a slant
* Add a ribbon which you wrap from bottom to top
