The Prettiest Flower Bulbs

Ranked #9,192 in Home & Garden, #115,829 overall

Planting fall bulbs makes for beautiful spring flowers.

When spring comes, I'm much too busy in my vegetable garden to worry about flowers. So, instead, I plant my flower bulbs in the fall.

These are some of my favorite beautiful spring flowering bulbs. They are all easy to take care of and give years of colorful enjoyment.

Eye of the Tiger Dutch Iris

These beautiful flowers will only grow to be about 8 inches tall, so it's best to plant them in large groups. Look for them to bloom at the first sign of spring, although sometimes they get in such a hurry, they'll push their way through the snow!

Fall flower bulbs need to be placed in well-drained soils for best results. Setting water tends to rot the bulbs.

Asiatic Lily Landini

These can be planted in partial to full sun and will bloom from June to July. Plant 8 inches deep, 4-6 inches apart.

These are the darkest Asiatic available. Since they will grow to be 48 inches tall, the best place to plant these would be towards the back of your garden. They also look great when planted alone as a house border.

Queen of Night Single Late Black Tulip

These can be planted in partial to full sun and will bloom in late spring. Plant 6 inches deep, 5 inches apart.

I would love to have a yard again to be able to plant bulbs. I seem to love everything and would love to a a bunch of everything you have here. The Asiatic Lilies and Amaryllis are sure catching my eye here.

Lovely choice of flower bulbs. Because we have moles in our yard...darn critters...we bury a small coffee can that has holes poked in the bottom and plant the bulbs inside them. Since we have done it this way we have not lost one of our flower bulbs :)

It has been over 20 years since I planted my bulbs, and they come up faithfully each year. The same ones...some of the hybrids are losing their color, reverting back to their natural colors. But each year they bring back memories as I look at them come up.
