Flower Favorites Off the Beaten Path

Ranked #9,047 in Home & Garden, #113,691 overall | Donates to Big Cat Rescue, Peace First

I admit it - I'm a flower freak!

This "about me" lens is the first challenge as a new Rocket Mom originally created in the Fall of 2011, so I hope you all enjoy it. Pour yourself a cup of tea, put up your feet, relax and read on.

In this lens I want to introduce you to me (Rinchen Chodron - birth name Marsha Camblin). One of my hobbies is photography. In May of 2011 I started participating in the 365 Day Redgage Challenge. At that point I did not have a Zazzle studio. For about 2 months I simply took flower photos and uploaded them to Redgage, then one day I decided to explore Zazzle and created my first Zazzle Store.

This is a photo of digitalis or foxglove. I have created a wrapped canvas with it.
After 5 months of the Redgage Challenge I had a number of flower photos and products for which I have not yet developed a lens. So I decided I would feature those unusual or odd flowers that haven't stimulated their own lenses yet here. I do continue to take photos and this lens is bound to be added to over time. You might want to check back here again if you enjoy it.

There are some great gift ideas in this lens for any flower lover.

Heliconia

I have a personal story about this plant. I own an old van and wanted to make it into a Hippie van with flowers painted on it. So one day I asked a friend to do this when I was away for a couple of hours. When I got home this is the flower she had chosen to paint on my van. I LOVE it! Thanks Hally!

I had been expecting daisies or something simple, not a masterpiece. This photo was taken at the local Denver Botanic Gardens in the atrium.

One Afternoon I was Driving in My Neighborhood

And I came across this Honeysuckle tree that was simply dripping with blooms. The people had planted both yellow and coral ones and they were so tall they were bending over the fence. I now keep my camera in my car, so I jumped out and was blessed with this shot.

Lilacs

Right after the daffodils and tulips come the lilacs with their wonderful fragrance! Lilacs mean spring to me. I have lived where there were many lilac bushes in my yard.

I See and Photograph Many Cannas

It is probably because the Parks and Recreation people here in Colorado plant an abundance of them in our medians and parks. Here is an example of some yellow cannas tipped with red. They were growing in the center parkway on a nearby road. I have created a lens now on Cannas - click to visit.

What a pretty collection of things...I love flowers too...the last ones are blooming around here, what I call my big Daisy bushes, mums and the impatiens which are so hard to kill are hanging on and looking beautiful. But many things are showing wear and tear from all the rain we've had and cool weather coming in.
