The Many Different Kinds Of Flowers For Shade
Ranked #269 in Home & Garden, #4,170 overall
Shade Flowers
Flowers for shade are often more intense in color, usually bloom longer, and have fewer insects and weeds. Shade gardens create a sense of peace and relaxation, and are great areas to retreat to or entertain in during the hot summer.
Shade flowers planted under trees will need extra water and fertilizer because the tree's roots will be competing with the flower's roots, but during the winter the tree will provide a natural mulch for the flower.

- Thanks for this topic. In the city we have so much shade, so this is nice. I had known about impatiens, but it's good to know about geraniums, too.

- Hi flowergardener,
I enjoyed reading your Lense. As I like to say, 'Gone are the days when a gardener was only choice for shade is a fern-in-an-urn!'
So many nice things to choose from nowadays.
Thanks for the useful tips.
