Plants and Flowers From My Garden

For most of my life I lived in London. The area where I lived was getting more and more crowded and beginning to feel alien to me. I was feeling so suffocated. Then 3 years ago I moved to the beautiful countryside of Suffolk. I now have a lovely garden with many beautiful plants and flowers, birds and the occasional squirrel and hedgehog.

Years ago before the area where I live was build on, it was sand dunes and a haven for wild birds. Today there are still many bird around and my garden is always full of bird song.

Every day I feel blessed to have such a beautiful garden, so peaceful and tranquil. Me and my partner love photography and I want to share some of the lovely photos we have taken. Some times I find it hard to believe I live here - just how lucky can I be?

Some of the photos were taken by myself and some by my partner Richard. If you would like to see some more of his photos you can visit his website at http://digitalphotographyshots.com/

Magic Tomato

The First Tomato Grown In Our Garden

When I picked our first home grown tomato I could feel it vibrate in my hand. It was a poignant moment because my partner was away from home on a training course at the time. It was the first time we had been apart since we had been living together . I wanted to wait for him to get back to pick our first tomato but he said I must pick it on a particular day. He also said I must eat it too. After I picked it I held it in my hand and felt it vibrate.

I took a photo of me eating the tomato with my camera phone and sent the photo to my partner just for a laugh. He said his phone went off in the middle of a lecture - whoops! lol.

Sunflowers in My Garden

Sunflower in my Garden

This year we decided to grow some sunflowers in the garden. We didn't have much room so we planted them in a big flower pot. They were not as big as we would have liked but still looked lovely. Next year we will make some room in the garden and hopefully they will grow much bigger.

Primroses in My Garden

Beautiful Primroses

The Primroses look particularly lovely in my garden this year.

Clematis in My Garden

Beautiful Clematis

Last year we bought a beautiful mauve Clematis for our garden. I have never been lucky with Clematis plants but my partner has the green fingers and this year thanks to his nursing and watering, it has done really well and the flowers are so big and lovely.

I love sunflowers. Unfortunately I have to fight with the squirrels and birds every year in order to get them to come up.

Thanks for visiting my lens. I love sunflowers too. Squirrels can be a nuisance, they sometimes eat our bulbs!

Absolutely loved your photographs, especially the ones with Bees. I have never been able to get a good micro of a Bee on my flowers. Bottlebrushes are stunning here in Oz,they attract a huge variety of bird life.Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for visiting, I'm pleased you liked the photos. Sadly the Bottlebrush is not doing too well this year thanks to our British weather but hopefully they will pick up. My partner Richard took most of the photos and is a bit obsessed with bees lol.

What a paradise you have created! You are gifted as a gardener and as a photographer and had me mesmerized. I am enthralled with the experience of feeling the tomato vibrate in your hand, now that takes a lot of sensitivity and awe of the natural world for sure. Delightful! I loved walking through your garden!

Thick Snow In My Garden

This December we had some very thick snow where I live and all my beautiful plants and flowers were covered with snow. It's the first time we have had heavy snow since I have lived here. It looked lovely and picturesque but was very hazardous to walk in when it got icy and slippery.
