You need to build up a basic understanding of internet marketing.
SEO or website optimization is very important when you are going to build a new website. Before you start building your new site you need to know exactly what your site will be used for, then you decide what will be your main keywords. Keywords are the search terms that people will type into search engines to find your website. The written content on your site will affect your web ranking and the way people find you.
Example: if you have a sports shop then the main content on your website home page would include words and terms like 'sports, sports apparel, soccer, football etc'
If you sell real estate, then don't expect to be able to get on the 1st page of Google for the keyword "real estate" you are better off targeting less popular key words like "real estate for sale" or " real estate in New York"
Original content is the key
Do not use copied content for your new website. It is easy to copy news and information from other sites but this can be frowned upon by some of the search engines and negatively effect your website. It is much better to have lots of original keyword rich content on the subject of your choice.
