Sloan Flushmate System

Ranked #6,375 in Home & Garden, #78,123 overall

How Does the Sloan Flushmate System Work?

The Sloan Flushmate system offers unique pressure-assistant technology. Flushmate works by trapping air. As the toilet bowl fills with water, Flushmate uses pressure from the water supply line to compress the trapped air. The compressed air forces the water into the toilet bowl. When the toilet is flushed, the Flushmate system pushes the waste out. (In a gravity unit, the waste is instead pulled out.) This vigorous flushing action cleans the toilet bowl better than the method of gravity units.

Sloan Flushmate Curve

There are many benefits to Flushmate performance:

1. At the start of the flushing cycle, water delivery is maximized to produce a powerful pushing action.

2. Toward the end of the cycle, the remaining water forms a large water surface area.

3. The entire cycle is approximately 5 seconds.

Sloan Flushmate Drain Carry Performance

The graph shows that as water volume is decreased, drainline carry capability also decreases - except for the toilet combinations which are achieved by flushometer tanks. Test conducted according to ANSI standard procedures as discussed in APSE Research Report 91-01.

Sloan Flushmate Advanced Bowl Design

Flushmate-equipped bowls are hydraulically designed to "push" contents out of the trapway instead of gravity siphoning. Siphoning requires a more complicated trapway, impeding performance. Flushmate's trapway is simple, only needing one bend.

Flushmate-equipped water closets eliminate the need to double flush because the trapway design has fewer bends.

Toilets with Flushmate use a siphon-jet bowl to meet and exceed ANSI/ASME A112.19.2M and CSA B-45 performance requirements.

Sloan Flushmate Trapway

Flushmate-equipped water closets have trapways that are specifically designed to allow waste to be extracted earlier in the flush, unlike gravity trapways, which require a choke area or siphon bend that ultimately restricts flow.

Sloan Flushmate Water Surface Area

Flushmate-equipped toilets offer the largest water surface area (10" x 12" / 254 mm x 305 mm) comparable to older (3.5 gallon) models.

A large water surface in the bowl reduces odors and keeps the bowl cleaner by reducing the dry surface area, thereby reducing housekeeping chores.

Sloan Flushmate Non-Sweating Tank

Water is contained in the Flushmate system. The result is a non-sweating toilet that keeps the floor around the toilet dry.

The additional cost of an insuliner tank is not necessary.

Flushmate + WaterSense

Look for the new WaterSense label on Flushmate toilets.

WaterSense, a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), makes it easy for Americans to save water and protect the environment. As part of the WaterSense labeling plan, home products such as bathroom faucets and toilets will boast the WaterSense logo - but only if they perform at least 20 percent more efficiently than their less-efficient counterparts.

Flushmate makes it easy by meeting and exceeding the WaterSense criteria - giving you exceptional efficiency and true high performance.

What Makes Flushmate Pressure-Assist Toilets Flush Better?

Pressure. Gravity-fed toilets are designed to siphon the waste out of the bowl, while Flushmate units are designed to push the contents.

How To Install a Flushmate Pressure-Assist Toilet

How to Install Flushmate VideoPrior to installing a Flushmate Pressure Assist Toilet, it is important to flush the water supply line. Beyond that, the installation procedure is the same as with any other toilet and requires a minimum 3/8" supply line. In fact, Flushmate Pressure-Assist Toilets are perfect for residential and commercial applications where the static pressure range is between 20 P.S.I. to 125 P.S.I. for Flushmate III and between 25 P.S.I. to 125 P.S.I. for Flushmate IV.

How Do I Know What Series Of Flushmate System I Have?

Flushmate LabelThe series number isn't always on the Flushmate tank. You will need to compare the pictures on FlushmateRepairParts.com and find the one that looks like your tank.

Where Can I Find My Tank Number?

Why Does The Sloan Flushmate System Go In A Different Manufacturer's Toilet?

FlushmateSloan doesn't make toilets, only the Flushmate system. Instead, the toilet manufacturers design a toilet that will work with the Sloan Flushmate system and install the system within their toilets.

Pressure-assist technology helps toilets deliver performance consumers want ... technology rated #1 by consumers and consumer publications.
Americans want toilets that perform better. Since the law now requires each flush to use only 1.6 gallons of water (down from 3.5 gallons), articles and letters appearing throughout the United States are focused on one thing: the new toilets do not deliver the same performance as the old ones. And that has consumers frustrated.
College cuts water usage by 25% per month with FLUSHMATE® pressure-assist toilets.
By adopting an aggressive water conservation standard, Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, CA, was able to reduce water usage at its facilities by 25% per month. The school has eight research institutes and houses 900 students and approximately 250 other employees and faculty on campus.
Flushmate-Equipped Toilets Ranked High In Overall Performance By Consumer Reports And MaP Testing Program
Recent independent tests conducted by Consumer Reports and the Maximum Performance (MaP) Testing Program revealed that toilet models equipped with Flushmate pressure-assist operating systems demonstrated outstanding overall performance compared to other models.
