A Fly Fishing Fanatic's Tale
Fly fishing in New Brunswick Canada is truly an experience I still enjoy after 30 years of fly fishing. For me it doesn't really matter what I am fly fishing for, whether it be trout, salmon, bass or even pickerel. If you have never experienced it I am sure you will have an enjoyable experience when you do.
I have been living in Moncton New Brunswick for more than 25 years, but I was born and raised in Ontario. I went from a fast paced lifestyle that was wearing me down to a place that seemed to be crawling in comparison.
From where I lived in Ontario it was a long drive to do any real fishing but here it was just minutes away. I would get home from work and still have time to spend a few hours doing what I loved more than anything, fly fishing for brook trout.
I have taught a few friends to fly fish over the years and it's always great to get together and hit the water. After all these years I am still the first one to the water, every time. The joy of fly fishing just gets stronger.
My First Fly Fishing For Atlantic Salmon Experience
One such river, actually called Salmon River, was so full of salmon when I first started fly fishing, more than 30 years ago now, that you could almost walk across the river without getting wet.
Salmon river also had a suspension bridge for walking across the river and it was awesome. You could stop halfway across and look down to see thousands of salmon, some so big you could put a saddle on them and ride them, but not any more.
Well now that I have finished complaining about commercial fishers let me tell you about this beautiful river and my first experience.

The Joy Of Tying Flies

It was about 4:30 and still dark when the alarm went off. I was on the floor before it stopped ringing. I grabbed my fly fishing gear I put together last evening, along with a quick breakfast, lunch for the day and headed to the trout stream. As usual...

The Fly Fishing Guide To Catching The Big One Your Buddy Didn't.

I really love fly fishing and try to introduce as many of my friends to the sport as I can. This gives me new fly fishing buddies to share experiences with and for that is part of the experience. But as much fun as fly fishing is I wasn't trained by...
A Beaver Pond, A Fly Rod A Trout And Me
The day my own artifical fly done me proud.
I have stopped at so many little water holes along the side of back roads and still do because their may just be a big surprise waiting for those that are quiet and patient.
I love Fundy Park, New Brunswick and there are a few nice fishing spots just outside of the park about a mile so you don't need a park license or their permission. That's as much as I will say about it's location. :)
This little spot that comes to mind I found while scouting new brooks. I drove right past it many times and never knew it was there until this one windy day the trees trees moved just enough that I was sure I saw water.
That moment I found one of the most enjoyable and pretty easy to get to spots that I kept secret for years until one of my fishing buddies got it out of me.
The joke was on him though, he didn't fly fish at that point and this area was designated fly fishing only most of the time.
My fishing buddy is now my fly fishing buddy and it took him one whole year to catch a trout on his fly line. But he too is hooked on fly fishing and never gave up.
