Can you think of a better return on your time investment than teaching your son or daughter how to cast a fly or even quickly showing them how to tie a proper cinch knot for tying their fishing line to hooks, lures, swivels or flies?
There is no better way to maintain family traditions and bonding generations together than spending showing them how to fish. I guarantee you will remember the first fish you ever catch and who was there to help you land it.
John, one of my friends was spending time with his grandson, Wesley who was not quite 3 years old, allowing him to toss a dry fly out into the edge of the water.
Just as beginner's luck would have it, Wham!
Wesley's line went tight and to much gleeful yelling, Wesley started walking backwards away from the waters edge dragging the fighting trout out of the water onto the bank. His first catch of his young life. I really am not sure who was the most excited Grandpa or Wesley. What I do know is they just then created a treasured family memory that will last a lifetime.
Do a little online research for the area you live in. You will be certainly able to locate many state sponsored lakes and streams to take your son, daughter, niece or nephew.
Imagine spending some time with your family a the local fishing hole. Tie on your favorite fly or bait a hook with a squirming night crawler. Yes take your family fishing.
You might just catch the prize memory of a lifetime.
