The Flying Nun - Does anyone remember this show growing up?
This was another great classic TV sitcom from the sixties.
There were several funny episodes involving a pelican, a shipwreck, sunken treasure, a poker game and oh yeah ... a kite. It was about a young novice who discovered that she had the ability to fly. Her name was Sister Bertrille (Sally Field) who weighed only 90 pounds and when the wind was right she could put on her cornette and fly! Her attempts to help people by flying often resulted in disastrous, yet hilarious consequences.
The shows original air date was Thursday, September 7, 1967 at 8:00 pm EST and it aired for three years (82 episodes) and was a favorite among both children and adults.
The Flying Nun was featured concurrently along with the sixties shows Bewitched and That Girl on ABC. At the time it was referred to as ABC's "triple threat" as all of these shows were tremendously popular and remain so today.
It is currently available on DVD and occasionally seen in reruns on some networks.
