What is a Focus Day?

Also known as an Integrity Day, a Focus Day is one day in the week that you set aside to ramp up your productivity and clear your outstanding tasks or work on a specific project.

Sometimes we just need a chunk of time to clear the decks or just really to get to grips with those things that we've been putting off, all the little things that we never quite have time for.

The difference on a Focus Day is that you don't do this on your own - you work with a friend, buddy, colleague or coach.

What Happens?

You get together over the phone and check in at regular intervals throughout the day.

If there are a group of you - just arrange a conference number.

Start putting together your tasks for the Focus Day a few days before.  It can be one big task or lots of small ones.  You might want to clear a specific work project, declutter a room, clean the house, catch up on admin or filing.

List out your tasks and think about how long they're going to take or the maximum amount of time you're going to spend on them.

Make this fun and put them into whatever format works best for you.  A simple list to be ticked, add some smiley faces, colours, pictures etc.  Get together everything you need for the day ready to start.

Here are a few ideas:

* Catch up on Emails (30 mins)
* Make phone calls (45 mins)
* Clear desk (1 hr)
* Organise the office.
* Complete outstanding report (2 hrs)
* Tidy bathroom/kitchen … (30 mins each)
* Update client files (30 mins)
* Clear backlog of filing (2 hours)
* Write newsletter (3 hours)
* Wash the windows (1 hr)

Plan your start and finish time.  I'd suggest starting around 10am but you can start earlier if you're an 'early bird' and finish around 4pm or just keep going if you're really keen.

Call in on the hour, every hour.  Each call will last between 5-10 minutes (max), sometimes just a couple of minutes, depending on how many people are on the call.

They're incredibly productive and you'll achieve far more than working on your own.

Here's what others have said about their Focus Day

"I always suspected that getting involved in an integrity day would work for me but I was absolutely amazed with the results."

"I loved it and want to thank Clare for introducing me to the idea. It's fantastic and I felt truly energised and excited and supported - something that people working alone or who are feeling de-motivated could really benefit from."

"I found that checking in every hour made the time speed by, I remember thinking 'I've only got 10 minutes left to do this before the call'. This technique meant I kept very focussed and tackled jobs I had been putting off for months."

Focus Day

Join me for a guided Focus Day.

I provide the number - you just turn up and let me help you through your tasks and actions for the day.

Set aside some time and join me for a few hours or the whole day and clear all those tasks you've been putting off.

The day starts at 10.00am GMT/BST and finishes around 4.00pm or can go on as late as 6.00pm if people want to keep going.

Let me know what timezone you're in as I often get callers from different timezones joining the call - especially from the US.

Be amazed at how much you can get done when the clock is ticking!

Full details of the day and how to register are on my website: Focus Day.

Monthly Newsletter - I can't do that!

My latest newsletter is just out. This month's main article is about the limits we impose on ourselves.

"I can't do that". I'm sure you've heard those words before, you've either said them yourself when confronted with a challenge or you've heard other people say them either about themselves or about others.

First of all, who says you can't. Is it you that's saying it or someone else? How often have you shared your dreams and ideas with someone and they come out with "You can't do that" - either because they don't think you're capable of it or because they can't do it and don't understand why anyone else would want to do it.

If you want to read the rest of the newsletter, just sign up on my website and you'll receive the latest issue and free Power Time Tips.
