Twitter is blogging in 140 characters or less. In today's society when time is precious and the time we have to dedicate to blogging seems to be slipping away, Twitter enters the arena.

With so many different applications for Twitter now there is NO excuse for not keeping up with your tweets and keeping your followers informed of what you are doing.

I love Twitter and thought it would be a great idea to have a Squidoo lens where you can add your Twitter address and get people to follow you from this list and vice versa, you can follow people already on the list.

If you aren't using Twitter to promote your business then you are missing out on some great traffic.

WARNING: Never use Twitter to spam your followers. If you send too many tweets about your business offers and services then your followers will just unfollow you and may even warn others not to follow you and report you for spamming so tweet responsibly!

Some Great Twitter Applications You Can Use When Twittering

You can easily search Twitter to find out whether people are twittering about a particular subject using Twitter search. It may help you find people to follow or to see whether people are twittering about you and your business.

There is a great plug in for WordPress which links Twitter to your WordPress Blog and best of all it's free! Whenever you make a blog post the plug in will automatically post a Tweet to inform your followers of your new blog post. It works in the opposite direction too by showing all your latest tweets on the sidebar of your blog. Go to Tweet My Blog and get your FREE copy now.

There is a great directory of Twitterers at Twellow. If you have been using Twitter for a while your entry should already be in there. It uses the keywords in your Twitter bio to put you in a category so pay careful attention to your bio, are you describing what you do correctly?

If you are using Firefox or Flock you can add TwitterBar to your browser and it allows you to send a tweet directly to Twitter from your browser.

TweetDeck is a great desktop component which allows you to keep in touch with your Twitter account and post directly from your desktop. You can use it to directly shorten urls which in itself is great with only 140 characters to play with!
