Always Follow Your Bliss!

Ranked #16,885 in Culture & Society, #343,154 overall

Why should you follow your bliss?

I've noticed a rather disturbing trend that has emerged in our society today. This trend is the thought that we must all do things we don't want to do in order to make ends meet. That we must work at a job we don't like, spend years going to school, and do all the things we are "supposed" to do in order to find happiness. Luckily, there's another way. FOLLOWING YOUR BLISS!!!!!!

This lens is about my experience following MY bliss, and why I feel it is so beneficial, nay ESSENTIAL, for everyone to do this. Maybe this lens will help you see that following your bliss is the best thing for you, too!

What is Bliss?

And how would I follow it?

bliss - [blis] - noun
1. supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment

Simply put, bliss is your supreme state of happiness. What is it in life that gives you that feeling? What's your passion? If you don't already know, then I think it would be wise of you to find it. Everyone has their bliss, and without it your life may seem cold and grey.

Personally, I have three things that I call my bliss: Cars, photography, and Water Cure (a band). I would have never discovered the last two if I hadn't followed my first one: Cars. It was only through allowing myself to follow through with my passion for cars that I was able to discover my passions for photography and then music in the way that I have.

Not only have I discovered other passions I never knew I had, my life has also changed dramatically - for the better! I am a happier, healthier person who now gets to work from home and spend my free time (and there's a lot of it!) pursuing my dreams of photography, drag racing and music. How did I do it? By following my bliss.

It may not happen overnight, it may not happen for years... But as long as the goal you are always working toward IS your bliss, you will find that your life journey is much smoother (even if you haven't reached the bliss part, yet!).

Just a Tease of What Can Happen

When you follow your bliss

Here are some of the photographs that I have been able to take and share with the world, none of which would exist today were it not for my decision to follow my bliss. Let me know what you think!

You Can Do This Too

You may be thinking "Yeah, but you're one of the lucky few who can do this! I certainly can't!"

Well, if that's what you are thinking, then you are absolutely right. Henry Ford once said "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right." When you convince yourself you can't do something, you will never be able to. As the Marine Corps likes to say "Can't never could." We are told when we are children that there's nothing we can't do, as long as we put our mind to it. That is one of the truest things we are told at that age. There really IS nothing that you can't do!

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!! You are an amazing creation who has more power over your life than you may know. Once you realize this, then you will begin to realize that you can, in fact, follow your bliss to do whatever your heart desires. But it all begins at the most basic level: thought. What you think most, you begin to believe. We all have this power to create our world around us with our thoughts.

Power of YOU!

Having a hard time finding the power that's within you? These great books will DEFINITELY help!

Why is "Bliss" so important?

Oh, I'll tell you why...

Nothing is more important than you. You can't fix anyone else's problems, and no one else can fix yours. You are in total control of your own life. So why wouldn't you want to do something that makes you insanely happy?? Your bliss is SO important, because it fills you with that positive energy, fills you with love and energy. You LOVE to do it! It makes you feel GREAT! Well, when you find yourself feeling that way more and more often, you'll find that a lot of the "rougher" parts of your life begin to fall away. Your landlord will get off your back about the trash cans. Your lover will be more tolerant of your toenail clippings on the bathroom floor. You'll find yourself with less stress, and over all happier. So many things will fall into place behind you falling in with your bliss. Try it for a week. For one week I want you to find something to smile about, something to appreciate every day - instill in yourself the same feelings that you would feel doing whatever it is you are passionate about. For only ONE week. I promise you that you will begin to see changes almost immediately.

Try It!!

I think it's worth following your heart, spirit, bliss or whatever people want to label it. Like you said, sometimes, it can take a few years, but it's important to first find it and then not lose sight of it. Bliss to me is making a difference in people's lives including my own :)
