Great tools make working with fondant more fun
A few years ago I started using fondant to decorate cakes for friends and family. While I haven't been able to afford any fondant tools aside from a nice Exacto knife, I've discovered that there are many useful and fun fondant tools out there.
The fondant tools I have listed below are those recommended by friends plus some more I've discovered online. All of them are on my cake-in-the-sky wish list.

Alphabet and Number Fondant Cutters
If you work with fondant it's only a matter of time before you'll need to write something on a cake. While you could use a pastry bag and pipe on letters and numbers with frosting, letters and numbers cut from rolled fondant look much neater in my opinion. I want to eventually get this set myself. Meanwhile, I'll be cutting out my numbers and letters with an Exacto knife. It's time consuming and the letters and numbers don't come out very uniform.
Fondant Smoother
A fondant smoother allows you to smooth out rolled fondant after it's been applied to the cake. I'm told these are the key to neat edges and smooth sides on fondant covered cakes.
Fondant Rolling Pin
Rolled fondant, well, needs to be rolled out. This is one of the nicer pins and it's plastic so there's less chance of the fondant sticking to it.
Pastry Mat
A pastry mat not only creates a mess resistant work surface, it allows you to measure fondant as you roll it out. I'd love a pastry mat like this because my current method is to roll out the fondant onto waxed paper and to stop and measure it with a measuring tape.
Fondant Tool Kit
The beauty of fondant is that it can be sculpted into just about any shape. Sculpting any material is easier when you have the right tools. This fondant tool kit is definitely on my wish list.

Embossing Fondant Rollers
Another fun thing about rolled fondant is that, with the use of a special rolling pin, you can create perfectly uniform designs in the fondant. I would love to have an embossing fondant roller.
Exacto Knife
This is the one tool I do have for working with fondant. Exacto knives have worked well for me for cutting fondant freehand and to cut fondant using a paper template. If you can only afford one thing for working with fondant, this set of knives should be it. Exacto knives are versatile tools. I keep mine very clean and spray the blades with non-stick cooking spray before each use to prevent the fondant from sticking.
Fondant or Gum Paste Flower Making Set
This fondant or gum paste shaping kit looks like a lot of fun to me. Fondant flowers can be made by hand, individually cutting each petal freehand, but it is very time consuming. This kit looks like it would drastically cut down the time it takes to make fondant flowers.
