Print this yardstick, get some help from the kids to color it. Then hang it and explain how eating healthy food helps us grow big and strong.

Teach children the importance of eating a healthy breakfast by comparing it to adding fuel to the car. Without fuel, the car won't go. Without food, we won't go.

We sleep all night, so when we wake up, our bodies need food to get us going. Our brain needs food as well as our body. Some good ideas for breakfast follow:

- whole grain cereal with milk
- toast with peanut butter
- yogurt and fruit
- eggs and toast

Try out a variety of foods to see what your child likes. Offer a small amount of new foods at first and eat the good for you food yourself.
