Understand more about food craving control and save tons of money every year

This money saving technique uncovers one of the most often overlooked sources of lost savings, namely lack of food craving control. This is something that people everywhere suffer from time to time, but not everyone is aware of how much excess money they lose from such a small habit. In general, when the craving comes, it is for a certain kind of food and not just any snack to satisfy one's hunger. The feeling basically arouses the desire for food items that contain sugar or carbohydrates, such as smooth, silky chocolate and sweet candy, or hot, crispy potato French fries.

As we all know, food items are increasing in price. Now, as an example, chocolate itself is quite an expensive food item (some people even consider it a luxury). This is even more so with the hard hitting times and chocolate prices going up. We need more money saving techniques than ever just to satisfy our chocolate cravings! But just imagine how much you could save by learning to control your food cravings. That imagination can turn into a reality by merely understanding how and why food craving control works.

Most people think that food cravings are a direct result of developed bad habits coupled with lack of self control. On the surface it may seem so, but in reality, there are specific biological reasons for this happening. Food craving control begins by understanding these underlying reasons. Let us being our new journey of exploration into food craving control, one of many money saving techniques. I'm your guide, Art Young, here to reveal to you yet another important money saving technique.

Why food cravings happen

There are quite a few reasons for food craving, including the following causes listed below:

1. Situations of exhaustion or depression. Understanding this particular area is essential in order to learn effective craving control. During such circumstances, our body goes through conditions of low blood sugar, causing the body to signal the brain that we need more sugar! This in turn results in craving for food items with high amounts of sugar or carbohydrates. Now why does this happen?

The reason is due to a mood-affecting hormone that makes us feel good - Serotonin - which is directly related to our blood sugar level. When we don't feel so good (less Serotonin is given out), we start to crave sweet things (like those expensive chocolaty goods) because Serotonin and low blood sugar level go hand in hand. But unfortunately, the amount of Serotonin released by eating sugar and carbohydrates lasts only for a short period of time before the cravings return once again.

2. Adrenal Fatigue. Have you ever had times when you felt so tired for no particular reason? Or maybe you felt so stressed out, you didn't even know why, and failed to get enough sleep? If so, you may have experienced adrenal fatigue. This condition has become quite common in modern society, but many fail to even consider it. Severe cases of adrenal fatigue are termed as adrenal exhaustion.

Similar to situations of exhaustion or depression, during cases of adrenal fatigue, the body signals the brain for more sugar or carbohydrate snacks as well, or maybe even coffee during the daytime; you may long for alcohol or carbohydrates at night. This does nothing to solve the problem and only makes things worse if we don't learn craving control.

3. Poor diet. People who have been keeping themselves on low fat and carbohydrate diets for a long time, or who have been consuming appetite suppressants, have been known to suffer from food cravings. This may be due to their becoming insulin resistant without their knowledge. Normally, the blood sugar level in the body is stabilized by this hormone we call insulin. It promotes the absorption of glucose in the blood through signalling of other body cells. In people with insulin resistant condition, the cells are unable to respond to these signals, resulting in the glucose not being absorbed. As a result, the body once again sends signals to the brain asking for more carbohydrates or sugar, sending them into a spiral of cravings with no hope of craving control in sight. This causes the person to receive excess calories which are deposited as fat, and begin to put on weight even though less food is eaten.

Food Craving Control

Just by becoming aware of the underlying causes of food cravings, we can already begin setting measures for craving control. To prevent food cravings from happening, our body needs good and healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, and additionally, nutritional supplements that are of pharmaceutical-grade sometimes. A good and healthy diet together with moderate physical exercise will help stop any cravings. Though patience will be required, but in the end you will succeed.

Thus concludes another great money saving technique. I hope you have learned a lot about food craving control, and I bid you, adieu.

Regards,
Art Young

Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food Cravings---And 7 Steps to End Them Naturally

Why is it so hard to resist the temptation of chocolate? Because chocolate triggers the release of natural opiates in the brain. It's a drug "strong enough to keep us coming back for more," according to nutritional researcher Neal Barnard, M.D., president and founder of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. Cheese also releases mild opiates during digestion--no wonder we crave it. In Breaking the Food Seduction, Barnard helps you understand and overcome your food cravings. He explains which foods "hook" us the most and why, and what to do to break free when you want to decrease the calories and fat that accompany these seductive foods. Cheese, for example, is about 70 percent saturated fat and has more cholesterol, ounce for ounce, than a steak.

Barnard offers seven steps to breaking your food cravings, devoting a chapter to each one, with anecdotes and plenty of clear, sound, practical tips. Then he presents guidelines for healthy eating using "the New Four Food Groups"--vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains--with a three-week menu plan and 113 healthful, vegan recipes. Highly recommended for people who want to understand their food cravings and finally get rid of them.
