Cooking Local Style Hawaiian Cuisine

The food in Hawaii is not the only thing I love about the Hawaiian Islands, but it's near the top of my list. Living here in the islands for over 30 years, I've learned the words "Hawaiian cuisine" actually represent Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Samoan, Thai, Portugese, Filipino, etc. etc. etc. dishes. Every culture present in the Hawaiian Islands contributes to the tantilizing reputation of food in Hawaii.

This page covers just a bit of the food in Hawaii that is special to my family and I (recipe links provided). At our house, we eat local style and we entertain local style. So, Aloha friends! Leave your slippers at the door and come on out to the lanai. Let's eat!

3 Best Local Style Rules of Etiquette
1. Never, never wear slippers inside the home of local residents. Leave them at the door. No exceptions. It's considered rude, rude, rude.
2. When invited to a dinner, a beach party, whatever.....bring food. Home made food is best, but do not show up empty handed.
3. If leaving a party early, don't pick the best pair of slippers from the pile at the door. Go home with the same slippers you showed up in!
