Very interesting! I've recently read the book The Omnivore's Dilemma and it talks a lot about this. The food systems is very corrupt and need to be reformed.

There is such a stink (pun intended) about smoking in the US but nobody is talking about how junk food and soda is killing people, too, with heart disease and adult onset diabetes. Or that it's just as addictive. None of us NEEDS 75% of the crap that's on our grocery shelves. Do you ever go to the grocery store and are sickened by the resources wasted?

I live in the middle of farm country. I have friends who are farmers and grew up with farm kids. I don't think most of them are thinking about any of this. They would grow organic if they could afford to. The government makes it hard. But...if we would all stop eating corn syrup it might break the corporate farms and we could go back to the small farms that could find ways to grow organic. Farmers will do what's right if a) there's a way to make a living at it and b) they have the education and support in setting it up
