Great lens. I have never had much of a green thumb. We planted pumpkins one year for the kids - started out great, the vines got large and even started to bud flowers but soon ended up like most of our gardening attempts - D * E * A * D. Thanks for the post.

I wrote a lens and featured this organization because I was so impressed with the way this charity worked; And for the life of me and I cannot find it. What impressed me so much about this organization is the fact that they teach people how to grow food, even in places where the conditions are not good for growing food. That is a major key for the future, teaching people how to grow food and educate them about it. Great page!!

Hi there, proud to have you as part of the Growing Food Group. I would suggest fixing that rogue tag in the intro module though! I would also suggest some of those updates become sub modules. Although with a top 100 ranking, I think you are doing very well as it is.
Anyway - the real reason I was here was to ask you if you keep records on your plants - when you planted them, what mix you used etc. It would be great if you could please come and vote and leave some notes on the group page. That goes for other gardeners reading this too!

great lens, truley inspiring and is a great example of how just like a tiny seed is watered with a little devotion and eventually grows into a beautiful tree with branches reaching everywhere nourishing all with its many facits. This idea (seed) of a sustainable way to grow ones own food is growing into a beautiful tree (a community living the idea) with its branches reaching all over the globe nourishing those parts it has reached already and those yet to come.

While I'm not much of a gardener anymore, my friends in Malawi depend on them...especially maize crops. James, our gardener there, just planted a terraced garden for veggies (photo on my lens). Wow, so much amazing information, it is sad that in 2008, with all the technology we have, we can't figure out how to feed the world, or give every one safe drinking water. It is sad. On a happy note, we had our first garden this year, and we did it over our drain field from our septic tank. We added zero chemicals, just water, sunshine and time, so I guess we did an organic garden. They were the best Fried Green Tomato's I've ever eaten. Thanks for the lens and the wonderful Gardening tips.

What a servant to all people you are Steve. You are a role model for what dreaming big means. You've got ways that everyone can contribute. I don't know what a lens is but I'll check it out. One of my gifts is in helping successful salespeople accelerate their success. More information is at
http://patriciaweber.blogspot.com. I'll post about this on my blog in the next day or so.
