Food Network :: Celebrity chef round-up

Ranked #13,187 in Food & Cooking, #231,816 overall

Okay, it's addictive. From Mario Batali to Bobby Flay, if it's in the kitchen, it's on Food Network.

It's my guilty pleasure-and I'm not alone. The network is seen in 100 million households. In addition to New York, it has offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and Knoxville.*

Now the men and women behind the dishes are celebrities in their own right. Average people now understand concepts like brazing, carmelization and searing. From "Good Eats" to "Everyday Italian" to "30 Minute Meals" America has discovered a new romance in their kitchen. These folks are leading the culinery revolution! Bon Appetit!

Absolutely love her.She is always so upbeat.i find that very humbling.Especially with her hectic schedule.Keep it going. And love that smile.
  • carolyn Dec 15, 2007 @ 4:41 pm | delete
Although I do like some of Rachael's receipes, I can't stand her laugh after her so called funny comments. She's the only one laughing. Am fussy about the use of good grammar too and she could care less about it. Was amused at Bill Clinton watching her. Can't believe how Oprah likes her.
  • Craig Jun 16, 2007 @ 2:41 pm | delete
Sick to death of her. I fail to get the allure of this woman.

Alton Brown

If I had all the money in the world, I'd hire Alton Brown for a year just to teach me "the ways of food". His "Feasting on Asphalt" was one of the most amazing shows on television-a subtle reminder of his filmmaking roots. I'd drop everything to work on his show. Did you hear that Alton? I'd drop everything... really...

  • Alton_Brown_Fangirl Dec 8, 2007 @ 7:13 pm | delete
I love Alton!! He is such a genius!! There is no one like him anywhere. No one out cooks Alton, either. ;)
  • Greg P. Sep 8, 2007 @ 4:13 pm | delete
I just want to know why in so many receipes, does Alton insist on using "UNSALTED" butter only to later add salt to the mixture. Why not just use SALTED butter? Is it because the salt in the butter and the extra salt will be too much? If so,why not use salted butter and leave out the Kosher salt?
  • Hayley Sep 22, 2010 @ 11:42 am | delete
It's because he wants to know exactly how much salt is being added.
  • mjhardin Sep 17, 2006 @ 1:12 pm | delete
I read his books, watch his shows and I come away not only cooking better, but better informed as to why I cooked better.

Ina Garten is the greatest. I haven't made a single recipe of hers that I didn't LOVE. Her recipes are uncomplicated and have wonderful flavor and texture. She is a classic

Bobby Flay

Iron chef? The man rocks with every single dish. He's an artist. He's the only chef on the network who has referred to a plate as "a composition" with "negative space". There's more than a few kichen tricks going on in that well cropped redhead.

I'm sorry, but this guy is a douchebag. Anyone that trolls around people's favorite local restaurants and bakeries and then challenges them to prove that what they consider the best is in fact not as good as his food is a super tool.
