The main food culprits are seafood and red meat when it comes to gout attacks. Many people that undertake the famous fad diet "The Atkins Diet" will start to get gout attacks as this diet consists of crazy amounts of meat and seafood.

What cures are there for this painful infliction?

If you have already contracted gout then the best thing to do is undertake a low purine diet. That means a diet that is low in the foods that we have previously mentioned. Another way to prevent or even cure gout is to have a daily intake of 1000mg of Vitamin C.

A study was undertaken in 2009 when people with a daily intake of 1500mg of vitamin C were trailed verses people with a daily intake of just 200mg of vitamin C. The study showed that the people with the higher intake of vitamin C were 40% less likely to have a gout attack than those taking just 200mg of vitamin c daily.
