FoodSavers - Money Saving Tips
FoodSaver home vacuum packaging systems offer a two-step process of removing air and sealing it out, so that your food stays fresh longer than with conventional storage methods. By keeping food fresh you eliminate freezer burn. Meat, chicken, fish, vegetables and fruit will stay fresh in the freezer for months, even years. Make an entire plate of food or vacuum package last night's pizza to eat months later.
But, as I've been discovering, there are lots of ways to use your FoodSaver food sealer that don't have to do with food! LOL What a fascinating and handy little appliance!
Enjoy your visit and come back often for more tips and ideas on how to use for FoodSaver to save money and time around the house and beyond.

Who Can Save Money With A FoodSaver?
You Can Use Your FoodSaver For Lots Of Different Things
- Hunters or fishermen to keep wild game or fish fillets freezer-burn-safe.
- The camper, to keep food supplies protected from insects or moisture, or keep matches, cell phone, first aid kit, GPS and maps waterproof. Vacuum sealed foods also do not emit an aroma which might attract bears or raccoons.
- The busy cook - vacuum seal make-ahead meals and quickly reheat later.
- The large family that buys in bulk; buy economical portions and reseal part of the package for later use.
- The busy mom can make custom-sized bags from the roll, for those small servings; save snacks or small meals for later or to carry with her.
- The traveler can seal clothing items, shampoos & other needs to save space & prevent leaks.
- The crafter can seal materials for a project together in a bag, OR seal materials for storage for organizing.
- The gardener can seal the yields of the garden for freshness and for later use.
Tips For Using Your FoodSaver
Food sealers can save you time and money!
- Cook less often, yet always have homemade, healthy meals; Since food stays fresh longer, meals and snacks can be cooked and measured when you have time and when you're focused. When cooking, make a little extra, portion the extra into individual or family size servings, and freeze. You can write calories, fat grams, points or whatever you're counting right on the bag.
- Avoid portion distortion; Take the guesswork out of eating. Store food in the appropriate portion sizes ahead of time.
- Just heat and eat; FoodSaver® Bags can be used in the microwave or dropped in a pot of simmering water. You can prepare an entire meal right on a microwaveable plate, vacuum package it and freeze. When you're ready to eat, simply vent the bag and place the plate in the microwave. Or you can freeze soup, stew or vegetables in the right portions, simmer the bag for a few minutes, and have a healthy dinner in minutes.
- Save money, save time and get out of the kitchen; Enjoy the savings of bulk buying without worrying about freezer burn or waste. Throw away less food from the grocery store. Take advantage of buys on fresh, seasonal produce or specials at the market. Since food lasts longer, you'll save money and can treat yourself to that new outfit as a reward for losing weight. When you vacuum package food, you can spend less time in the kitchen and less time shopping. That means more time doing the things that count such as being with your family or getting exercise.

Your FoodSaver & Leftovers
The biggest problem with leftovers: who wants to eat the same thing tomorrow? If you want to keep your leftovers delicious for next week or next month, just use a FoodSaver® appliance.
- First, divide leftovers into portions that will work for you: for meals, sandwiches or snacks.
- Put those servings directly into a FoodSaver® Bag. Or put them in a microwaveable serving dish and slip the entire dish into a FoodSaver® Bag. Vacuum package it.
- Pre-freeze soft foods such as breads, pies, dips, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, biscuits and cakes. That way, they'll hold their shape when vacuum packaged.
- Pre-freeze meat, fish and poultry for 1 to 2 hours before vacuum packaging to keep in the juices and to help guarantee a good seal.
- Re-heat by putting the bag directly in the microwave or simmering water. Enjoy!
