What To Eat When Pregnant - There Is A Lot To Choose From
Now that you are expecting a baby, it's no time to diet. You need to know the correct foods to eat while pregnant and try to not gain an unhealthy sum of weight, but you shouldn't be dieting now. You'll need about three hundred to 350 calories more a day than when you were eating only for you, about 2,500 to 2,700 calories every day.
If you're extremely thin naturally or if you're going thru a multiple birth pregnancy, your physician may even prescribe more of a rise in your daily caloric intake. On the other hand, if you are usually heavy, your physician may instruct that you consume more calories, but she may counsel you to drop below the extra three hundred to 350 typically prescribed for a typical pregnancy.

A Well Balanced Diet
You need a plan to maintain a well balanced diet thru your pregnancy, composed of lean meats and protein, fruits, veggies, and whole-grain bread, as well as fat free dairy foods like cheese and milk. These usually may include the following:Vegetables and Fruits - four or more portions of vegetables and three or more portions of fruits, at minimum.
Protein - 2 or more portions of lean, cooked beef or chicken ( without the skin ), or fish. These servings should amount to sixty grams of protein every day.
Whole grains and multi grain products - 9 or more portions of multi grain products each day. Try and keep away from processed flour, sweetened cereals, etc. They contain minimal nutritive value.
Dairy foods - 4 or more servings each day. Now that you are pregnant, you may need to consume at least one thousand mg. of calcium a day ( 1,300 mg if you're under eighteen years old ).
Water - six to eight 8 oz glasses of water a day ( if you're exercising : 8-10 glasses ). This might seem like a lot but your body will adapt to this volume, and you want to remain hydrated while carrying a child to stop constipation, hemorrhoids, urinary and bladder infections, swelling, and muscle strain.
What If You Are Diabetic?
If you're a diabetic and you want to have a baby, work with your OB/GYN doctor and your diabetes doctor to be certain you are in the best shape possible at least 3 to 6 months before you get pregnant.
