Food and Cooking as a Profession
Ranked #8,176 in Food & Cooking, #149,212 overall
There's more to jobs involving food than just being a chef, a cook, or a server!
Then we found out that he was talking about the Culinary Institute of America and the Food and Beverage Institute. Whew!
Our son was showing a lot of promise as a cook--because he was always helping in our home's kitchen--making breakfast burritos, French toast, pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, and other goodies in the mornings. Helping with grilling barbequed yummies for our family dinners and even parties. And occasionally cooking up things like spaghetti (with his own fresh-made sauce created by simmering tomato sauce, mushrooms, olives, basil, pepper, and ground beef), chili, and salmon and trout served with lemon and salad on the side.
We then attended a Food and Beverage Conference and Convention at the San Francisco Moscone Conference Center to provide an open opportunity for our son to get a "crash course" in the world of foodies. This annual event was a treat--for about $30 to $40 per person, we were able to wander the amazing exhibits in the cavernous convention center... and we were able to sample delicious treats and see amazing cooking demonstrations.
If you are a foodie, this is an event you should try to attend... it's an eye-opener! (There's an East Coast venue and a West Coast venue!)
