Who's Schmoopie?
Do you have a Schmoopie in your life, or wish you did? If not, and you happened to have stumbled upon this page, you may be wondering, "What in the blazes is a Schmoopie??"
Well, Schmoopie can be anybody you wish. In case you have never come across this goofy moniker before, Schmoopie is a pet name of affection which first surfaced in an episode of the popular TV sitcom, "Seinfeld." (Although this isn't the only definition of Schmoopie, it is the most common.) If you are a Seinfeld fan, you will probably remember the famous "Soup Nazi" episode in which Jerry and his latest girlfriend du jour, Sheila, affectionately (and nauseatingly) keep calling each other "Schmoopie," much to the annoyance of all his friends.

For those of you who have a Schmoopie in your lives, below is a funny love poem I wrote which was inspired by those scenes from the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode in which Jerry gets all mushy with his girlfriend, Sheila.

Still, I Love You, Schmoopie

When you call me Schmoopie, my friends want to puke.
They don't understand us, they think I'm a kook.
You say I am Schmoopie, but I disagree.
To me, you are Schmoopie, it's plain as can be.
When we smooch in public, I really don't care.
I love you, my Schmoopie, so what if folks stare?
We're two crazy love birds, the world is our stage,
but some people say we belong in a cage.
When you plop yourself down next to me on the couch,
I cannot see why this makes George such a grouch.
He winces whenever we start to embrace.
Poor slob can't escape us, we're right in his face!
We're waiting in line with the rest of the troops
to be served a hot meal of our favorite soups.
But you're getting all smoochy and out of control,
and now, the Soup Nazi won't give us a bowl!
Still, I love you, Schmoopie, I don't care who knows.
In fact, I am going to send you a rose.
So what if this gesture makes all my friends sick?
I think someone's hurling, let's get outta here quick!
"You're Schmoopie, no, YOU'RE Schmoopie, no, YOU'RE Schmoopie ..."
George looks on with disgust as Jerry and Sheila playfully argue over which one is Schmoopie.
"Do I know you?"
When push comes to shove, Jerry shows his true colors and ends up choosing soup over Sheila, who is totally "bowled over."
