Ford's All-New B-MAX to Make Landmark Debut at Mobile World Congress

Ford Motor Company executive chairman Bill Ford will unveil the all-new B-MAX on Feb. 27 at the 2012 Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona.
Ford is the first manufacturer ever to unveil a car at the leading mobile industry event and will announce significant new technologies for Europe to be debuted on the B-MAX; these will make it one of the continent's most technologically advanced small cars.
Bill Ford also will become the first automotive leader to deliver a keynote speech at MWC when he discusses the company's vision for mobility in the future and explores the potential for mobile technology and vehicles to play more integrated roles.
"Revealing the B-MAX at Mobile World Congress underlines how important technology is to customers and to Ford," said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. "B-MAX will raise the bar for small vehicles in Europe, combining technology and premium engineering into a compact frame."
Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally will introduce the B-MAX to the automotive world at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on March 6.
B-MAX will bring a unique Easy Access Door System with central body pillars integrated into the sliding rear doors to provide unrivalled access for passengers and luggage alike.
FORD FILM STARS CELEBRATE CENTENARY AT ELSTREE STUDIOS
Five of Ford's most memorable vehicles to feature on film and television have been brought together at Elstree Studios, London to celebrate 100 years of Ford of Britain.
The Ford Anglia 105E from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, lined up alongside the pink FAB1 from Thunderbirds, James Bond's Ford Mondeo from the 2007 film Casino Royale, a Ford Granada as seen in The Sweeney TV series and Dr Who's yellow Edwardian vintage car.
One of the most watched vehicles in film history is the turquoise Ford Anglia 105E seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
"I'd been involved with Ford Anglia clubs for 30 years when I was asked by the film makers to provide a car for the movie," said owner John Colyer. "After that it just took off and I ended up supplying around 15."
One of the most eye-catching vehicles at Elstree was the six-wheel Ford-badged FAB1, that starred in the 2004 live action film Thunderbirds. Famous for its multi-function ability on the road and in the air, FAB1 is, of course, road-legal and fully operational.
For Daniel Craig's debut as James Bond, in Casino Royale, which debuted ahead of the launch of the production Ford Mondeo in 2007, he took to the wheel of a hand built prototype. Following the film's release, the car was donated by Ford to the Ian Fleming Foundation and can now be seen at the Bond exhibition at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.
On the small screen, Ford vehicles have featured in many series including two popular British programmes gritty police drama The Sweeney and science-fiction drama Dr Who. The familiar car chases of The Sweeney helped the Ford Consul GT and the Ford Granada achieve cult status with car fans and are still loved 40 years on.
The canary yellow Edwardian vintage car with unique WHO 1 number plate and indicator 'hand' makes regular appearances at Dr Who conventions, and several Dr Who fans have used the car for weddings.
The summer's Ford Centenary Tour covered a distance of over 2,200 miles across Britain, from Inverness to Southampton and Cardiff to London.

2011 Ford Focus Review
The original Ford Focus changed how we looked at family cars, being fun to drive, with a comfortable ride. But that was 1998; fast forward twelve years and rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf and more recently the Vauxhall Astra have caught up. So I wondered whether the new car, which is launched in March, could go straight to the top of the class?Firstly, what's new about Ford's latest version of its fleet and family favourite? Well, everything really. It rolls on a new longer and wider platform, has class-leading safety kit including a camera in the front that reads road signs and a system that actively steers the car back into lane. Green features include stop-start on key models, but the cleverest feature has to be an active grille that closes to reduce CO2 emissions by 2 per cent..... if you would like to read more of this article on the New Ford Focus click the link

Ford takes Top Spot in Car Market up 54.7% in 2010
Car sales rose by 54.7% last year, with Ford topping the chart for the 3rd year in succession, with almost 13% of the overall market, ahead of Toyota and Volkswagen. The Government scrappage scheme was an important driver of activity in 2010, accounting for almost 1 in 5 sales, or over 17,000 cars.
Total cars sales grew to 88,373 compared to 57,118 in 2009. Ford sales rose by 38% to 11,273, with the Focus and Fiesta among the country's top selling models. Toyota, VW and Renault were the other brands to record double-digit market share.
"Encouraged by a combination of scrappage and attractive offers, 30,000 more people bought new cars last year than in 2009," said Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. "This was a much needed fillip to the industry after a catastrophic previous year."
"Despite the gloomy outlook, I foresee similar sales, of ca. 85,000, for 2011, as more people need to change their aging cars and great deals continue. "
The van market, often seen as a harbinger of economic activity, rose by 10% in 2010. Ford was heads the commercial chart with 18% of the market.
The New Ford Mondeo
From every angle, the stylish, dynamic and sportier profile of the new Mondeo hints at the enhanced design above and below the surface
Thoughtfully restyled, the new Mondeo's sharper profile is more dynamic and athletic yet composed and refined. From the re-proportioned front grille to the LED daytime running lights and chrome detailing, design touches throughout create a sense of stylish sophistication.
Ford takes pole position in scrappage stakes
Ford has taken the lion's share of car sales under the government scrappage scheme which was launched in January 2010. According to the figures which were compiled from statistics from the Revenue Commisioners, to date this year, Ford has sold 826 units that qualified for the scrappage rebate, or 17% of the overall 'scrappage market'.Next in line was Renault who took 16% with 789 sales since January. Skoda and Toyota took the third and fourth positions in the sales table.
The government scrappage scheme provides for VRT (Vehicle Road Tax) relief when a new passenger car with CO2 emissions of not more than 140g/km (i.e. Co2 tax band A or B) is purchased and registered and another passenger car over, over ten years old is scrapped. The scheme runs from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2010. The VRT relief available is up to 1,500 euros.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland said: "The scrappage scheme provided a significant timely boost to car sales this year at a time when many jobs were threatened as a result of hugh decrease in vehicle sales. " We are delighted to have the honour of leading the pack in terms of sales under the scheme. It is a testament to the quality and appeal of our three models that qualify for the scrappage scheme: Ka, Fiesta and Focus, they are clearly cars that are ideally suited for the times we live in".
