Taking time to enjoy the forest and all of nature is important for many people. Unfortunately, we don't always have the ability to get out and experience nature when we need it most. This is where pictures and art work can step in to help fill the void.

Creek with Giant Sequoia in Round Meadow, California


A downed Giant Sequoia lies next to a small stream and other living trees in this image, taken by Rich Reid in Round Meadow, California, USA.

This area is east of Los Angeles, California near the San Bernadino National Forest. Hiking is plentiful in the area. The Giant Sequoias are reported to be the largest trees in the world and according to Wikipedia they are a type of redwood which grows to heights of 165-280 feet and a diameter of 18-24 feet.

 

Rain Forest


This image is identified only as "Rain Forest" and does not name the actual location of the photograph. It's a landscape view taken at eye level, giving the viewer the same feel they would get standing among the trees.

 

Beech Woodland in Autumn, Scotland


This forest scene was captured by photographer Mark Hamblin. It places the viewer in the middle of a mature forest in the late summer, enjoying the peace and being enveloped by the cooling green shadows.

 

Sequoias


An art print by French artist, Alain Thomas rather than a photograph, this image presents a magical view of the Sequoias once again.

Another upward gaze through the trees, photographer Frank Tozier doesn't identify the location of this photograph. Darkness below and light above, the viewer is enveloped by the forest, dwarfed by the towering trees surrounding the frame.

 

Licuala Palms Growing Wildly in a Rainforest


This photograph shows some lush Licuala Palms growing wild in a rain forest although the exact location isn't known. These Palms however are apparently native to Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Australia.

The scene is certainly one that communicates the damp nature and heavy growth of a rain forest giving the viewer a quiet sense of seclusion.

 

Moss-Covered Trees in the Hoh River Valleys Temperate Rain Forest


T his image shows moss growing on a tree in the Hoh River Valley temperate rain forest. The Hoh River Valley is located in Washington State in the area of Olympic National Park. There is plenty of hiking available although snow is prevalent in the area except in summer. Fern and moss are of course common sights in the region.

 

Morning, Harding Park, San Francisco, 2002


Although this photograph was actually taken in Harding Park, in San Francisco, the framing leaves the viewer with the feel of being alone in the forest. The image shows the early morning sun rising and piercing the wooded area with fog making it a rather surrealistic experience. Photographer Mark Citret captured this image.

 

Haze in Redwood National Park, California



Photographer, James Blank took this magnificent forest picture of some Giant Redwoods. The exact location is not identified but Giant Redwoods in general are centered in California as are the Giant Sequoias (a type of Redwood)

The redwoods are said to be as old as 2,500 years and may grow to over 300 feet high. There are a number of scenic drives that can be taken to enjoy a view of the redwood forest.

Short of a visit to the area, viewers can enjoy the majesty of these grand trees from a ground level view with this print.

 

Sunlight Coming Through Redwoods, CA


Some forest pictures present beauty and reality, others are magical which is where this image takes you. Photographer, Inga Spence captured this photo of sunlight streaming through the Redwoods of California.

The calm and quiet of the forest floor is suddenly broken by the promise of sunshine breaking through the canopy at daybreak.

 

Rays of Sunlight Beam Through the Mist and Boughs of Towering Evergreen Trees




Although the location of this scene isn't noted, it's clearly a mountainous evergreen forest. The image accentuates the towering majesty of the the spruce trees with sun beams penetrating the limbs and the hovering mist.
