Nature possesses a timeless beauty and power. It has a unique ability to revitalize us, to bring us tranquility, and to put us in awe. Taking time to enjoy the forest and all of nature is important for many people. Unfortunately, we don't always have the ability to get out and experience nature when we need it most. This is where pictures and art work can step in to help fill the void.On this page you can find a variety of forest pictures taken from around the world. They're available in a variety of sizes from small posters, to larger framed prints, and sometimes in wall murals. If you find a picture that you want, just click on the image. This image was taken by Jay Restuccia in Texas Falls, Vermont, USA. It shows a sunlit forest scene with dreamlike green and yellow hues. The viewer is drenched in the cool colors and peaceful wooded scene.
A downed Giant Sequoia lies next to a small stream and other living trees in this image, taken by Rich Reid in Round Meadow, California, USA.
This area is east of Los Angeles, California near the San Bernadino National Forest. Hiking is plentiful in the area. The Giant Sequoias are reported to be the largest trees in the world and according to Wikipedia they are a type of redwood which grows to heights of 165-280 feet and a diameter of 18-24 feet.
This image is identified only as "Rain Forest" and does not name the actual location of the photograph. It's a landscape view taken at eye level, giving the viewer the same feel they would get standing among the trees.
This forest scene was captured by photographer Mark Hamblin. It places the viewer in the middle of a mature forest in the late summer, enjoying the peace and being enveloped by the cooling green shadows.
An art print by French artist, Alain Thomas rather than a photograph, this image presents a magical view of the Sequoias once again.
Another upward gaze through the trees, photographer Frank Tozier doesn't identify the location of this photograph. Darkness below and light above, the viewer is enveloped by the forest, dwarfed by the towering trees surrounding the frame.
This photograph shows some lush Licuala Palms growing wild in a rain forest although the exact location isn't known. These Palms however are apparently native to Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Australia.
The scene is certainly one that communicates the damp nature and heavy growth of a rain forest giving the viewer a quiet sense of seclusion.
T his image shows moss growing on a tree in the Hoh River Valley temperate rain forest. The Hoh River Valley is located in Washington State in the area of Olympic National Park. There is plenty of hiking available although snow is prevalent in the area except in summer. Fern and moss are of course common sights in the region.
Although this photograph was actually taken in Harding Park, in San Francisco, the framing leaves the viewer with the feel of being alone in the forest. The image shows the early morning sun rising and piercing the wooded area with fog making it a rather surrealistic experience. Photographer Mark Citret captured this image.
Photographer, James Blank took this magnificent forest picture of some Giant Redwoods. The exact location is not identified but Giant Redwoods in general are centered in California as are the Giant Sequoias (a type of Redwood)
The redwoods are said to be as old as 2,500 years and may grow to over 300 feet high. There are a number of scenic drives that can be taken to enjoy a view of the redwood forest.
Short of a visit to the area, viewers can enjoy the majesty of these grand trees from a ground level view with this print.
Some forest pictures present beauty and reality, others are magical which is where this image takes you. Photographer, Inga Spence captured this photo of sunlight streaming through the Redwoods of California.
The calm and quiet of the forest floor is suddenly broken by the promise of sunshine breaking through the canopy at daybreak.
Although the location of this scene isn't noted, it's clearly a mountainous evergreen forest. The image accentuates the towering majesty of the the spruce trees with sun beams penetrating the limbs and the hovering mist.

It provides the viewer with an up close view of the moss, ferns and undergrowth common in the rain forest near Lake Quinault, Olympic National Park in Washington State, USA. This forest picture places the viewer on the road in the depths of the forest. Photographer Adam Jones captured this enchanting drive in Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky, USA.
Photographers Jerry and Marcy Monkman shot this image of a stream in the forest of Eastern Hemlock. It's located in East Haddam, Connecticut, USA.
Another view of the same forest above by the Monkmans. This one gives the viewer a higher perspective and a sense of the rolling landscape.
Ferns, trees, and shrubs fill this image of an unidentified rain forest photographed by Jim Sugar. It appears to put the viewer upon a path for foot traffic, offering a sense exploration while hiking through the heavily wooded area.
This magical place was photographed by Jamie and Judy Wild. The trail is takes the viewer through big leaf maple trees and Oregon Selaginella Moss in the Hoh Rain Forest.
Although the location isn't identified, it appears likely to be one of the redwoods in California. Surrounded by ferns it shows a fallen tree with dense woods behind it.
With a stunning bird's eye view of the forest, this image captured by Walter Bibikow shows Sonnenspitze and the Wetterstein in Tyrol Austria with towering conifers in the foreground.
For the hikers, this photograph captures a foot path gently winding through a grove of young Sequoia, and other trees in California. The dappled sunlight adds interest to the scene. James P. Blair is the photographer.
From Japan, this image shows a Bamboo rainforest in Sagana Kyoto Japan. Both the coloring and banded look of the trees offer a very unique view.
One of the most brightly lit forest pictures, this image by Tim Laman shows trees heavily covered with moss and ferns dotting the ground in Washington state, USA.
