A Forest of Comments

From the lens The Importance Of Trees.

Do you know of conservation projects in your area? What is government and local government doing about this issue?

SquidLiked this lens. Someone posted a link to it on their GOOGLE+ profile. That's how I found it. I don't know what sort of projects are going on my community but I'm sure Austin, Texas is big on saving trees. It's the first thing my daughter noticed when we moved here from El Paso, Texas. "Hey! This place has trees!" :) Perhaps you might consider reading my article "Is Tree sitting Really Necessary?

Back to give this lens a well-deserved Squid blessing. I like the way you make the case for trees, and then tell about initiatives in England.

I wouldn't want to live in a world without trees. Thank you for promoting and featuring such an important topic. Excellent resources and information here. Appreciated!

Thank you for all the great information. I live beside a conservation area , I love the fact that everything there can be untouched.

Love this lens. If schools switched to electronic yearbooks, imagine how many trees we could save!

I have heard about the Forest Europe Growing Lives but I had no idea that there were so many other fine organizations dedicated as well. In Canada, we do have many greenbelt and environmental projects and incentives for protecting watersheds and forests. I am very impressed that our schools also take part in 'plant a tree' days, etc. So glad I found your lens, this is excellent.

This is the Best Way to Go Green, trees are more than just a work of art, they are supporter of Life on this Planet! That's not to be taken lightly, this is Beautiful Work on the Squiddo Lens!!

I'm no tree huger but being a city boy I do appreciate being able to visit public forests and woodland. This government proposal must somehow be defeated. No matter who gets elected as soon as they get into power they become self serving. I've signed the petition..

    Love the Willa Cather quote.

I first started appreciating trees when in grade school, I had to read Joyce Kilmer's poem Trees "I think that I shall never see, A poem as lovely as a tree" I knew it was corny then, but it made me think anyway.

Wonderful presentation! I leaned a new word today, pollarding, have always heard it as topping a tree ~ hope I can use it is a sentence soon! With the loss of forests all around the world the consevation of this wonderful natural resource is more an more important. Maybe we all need to become tree huggers. We could start a movement like, have you hugged your tree today!
  • reasonablerobinson Nov 8, 2010 @ 12:56 pm | delete
yep hugged a tree the other day...its also a way of measuring the age of tree roughly...mind you I've got my work cut out - Sherwood Forest is just up the road!
  • SereneSea Nov 5, 2010 @ 11:55 pm | delete

What a truly informative lens - I didn't know about the StumbleUpon tree planting deal. This is certainly a 5 stars lens. I've lensrolled it to, and featured it on, my Tropical Rainforest lens. Congrats. Thanks for catching me on RedGage - my other passion!
