Do Your Hips Bother You A Lot ?

"One Moment On Your Lips, Forever On Your Hips"

I must have heard this expression hundreds of time over the course of my life.

I was "blessed" with wide hips.....LOL. My grandma used to say to me that I would have been more popular in the "old days" because it wasn't in fashion anymore. No, what was "in" then was a body like Twiggy.Photo

Low carb diet, more natural foods, less sauces and white flour. Exercise wherever you can...stair instead of elevator...don't look for close parking but less cars and you walk farther.
  • FlaminCatDesigns May 15, 2012 @ 6:32 pm | delete
My mother always said - big hips were good for birthin babies. LOL. Fun lens :)

Got to remember that "...forever on your hips" part, and I seem to be trying forever.
  • Koupie May 4, 2012 @ 8:41 am | delete

My body has changed so much since having 5 kids. I've been doing Zumba and Body Blast classes and using the treadmill and elliptical...I've lost 8 pounds since Christmas. It's slow, but it's working, so I'm happy! :)
  • BusyMOM Jan 15, 2012 @ 12:40 pm | delete
Great lens. Really enjoyed it! The body is an amazing thing and we need to appreciate it, no matter what shape we are...

Yes, the old fashioned way. But those caffiene pants looked interesting. :)

That video makes me tired and sore just watching it. Actually I have been stronger lately and our weather is good so I have been trying to regain some lost muscle. Lol...not sure how I am doing yet but hopefully the weather will hold out till I can drop a little of my excess weight. Best of wishes.

A perfect reminder for the holidays to get going now and keep it fun....love on our bodies to better health. I have to work on keeping weight on but that hula hoop is something we should have all kept doing....to better health and fitness!

I would definitely like to be a bit more in shape than I am, and yes I hold my weigh on my butt, gut, hips, and thighs... although I don't mind my hips so much ;) ......I like to exercise on the treadmill (which has a slight incline) and my stepper (adding 5 lbs of weights onto my ankles and wrists). Great lens... Blessed :)

I have always been overweight, and ironically I just said to my wife I was thinking of getting a bowl of peanuts to nibble on, and the next thing I did was to search for one of your lenses to read, and guess what caught my eye!!! Nicely done, still going to have those peanuts though, blessed.
  • poutine Nov 7, 2011 @ 3:00 pm | delete
Thanking you so much for your kind blessings.

Go for the peanuts, but try to have "portion control", not easy, but feasible if you reduce your intake just a few at a time.
  • bames24 Nov 7, 2011 @ 7:20 am | delete
    I have bulges everywhere... ;)
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Oct 26, 2011 @ 8:33 pm | delete
I carry most of my weight in my belly. It's hard to get rid of it.
  • scarlettohairy Oct 24, 2011 @ 12:04 pm | delete
Good collection of ways to trim the hips. I was "blessed" with the wide ones too.
  • mikeygman Aug 30, 2011 @ 5:42 pm | delete
Lots of interesting information, I'll bookmark this page and will be back regularly!

I definitely have wide hips, but I'm okay with them. They're womanly!!
    Fun lens, thanks! :)

never seen that exercise before, thank you for sharing this informative lens! cheers
  • sousababy Mar 29, 2011 @ 12:04 pm | delete
Drink lots of water and walk every day, even just 20 mins. Try not to obsess about it, raises cortisol levels and makes it even harder to lose weight. Oh, and get enough sleep.
  • Harshitha Mar 26, 2011 @ 3:34 am | delete
My favorite way is to dance . You have all the fun and you lose weight.
  • fargasch Mar 23, 2011 @ 4:47 am | delete
Yes, this statement is so true! As my brother-in-law once said, "seconds of pleasure that will require hours at the gym"...
  • Stonecutter Mar 22, 2011 @ 11:04 am | delete
Never could get the Hula Hoop thing going. Fortunately I was blessed with a hyper metabolism so weight control has never been an issue for me but my Dad was the same way until he got a bit older so I am sure my day is coming.
  • Donita_Marie Mar 22, 2011 @ 7:23 am | delete
Hula hoop brings back some good old memories, and the title here just made me giggle when I saw it. How true it is! I like to "try" and stay healthy since the years are adding up...LOL
  • jvsper63 Mar 21, 2011 @ 7:15 pm | delete
Always, I loose it I gain it back. This has been a theme in my life for about 5 years now. Great lens.
  • vallain Mar 21, 2011 @ 6:26 pm | delete
I try to eat a little less and be more active if I go up 2 or 3 pounds. Monitoring my weight means I can work it back off if I don't let it go up and up and up. Usually I can get the 2 or 3 pounds off again in a week or two.
Still there's that basic 15 to 20 pounds that I should have worked off years ago. Sigh...
  • MarianaFargasch Mar 21, 2011 @ 5:04 pm | delete
Which reminds me, I need to get back to the gym!!
  • poutine Mar 21, 2011 @ 5:08 pm | delete
And me, it reminds me of getting my legs out there and walk more.
  • puerdycat Mar 21, 2011 @ 6:56 pm | delete
I love walking. Came from a small town and as kids we got ourselves around everywhere--some pretty good distances--just walking, and the habit stuck. It's the best.
  • Sylvestermouse Mar 12, 2011 @ 8:07 am | delete
I can't say that I really let the whole weight thing weigh me down :) I do think exercise and staying healthy are important for everyone.
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Nov 16, 2010 @ 4:54 am | delete
I'm always trying to lose weight but I don't have much luck.

Ghost of Pizzas Past... I think I've been visited by that ghost before. :D My hips are not the problem, but the waist over them could use some work. I've got a suggestion about how to lose some inches whilst Squidooing...write 1 word, then run around the desk/table 1 time. That might just work. :D Thanks! 5 stars and lensrolling to Low Fat vs. Sugar Free.
  • athomemomblog Mar 27, 2010 @ 10:41 pm | delete
I was blessed with "childbearing hips", as my father used to say. I did have my kids no problem, so I guess they work, lol. However, I do zumba and walking to try and tone them down a bit.
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Mar 22, 2010 @ 4:20 am | delete
I walk every day but I need to start focusing on specifics. The older I get the harder it is to motivate myself, but my son is getting married in less than a year. Pictures...
    Thanks for sharing.

Hubby was diagnosed with Diabetes a couple of months ago and is on a special diet. I went on it with him and the pounds are melting off. Diet and exercise really does work. My evenings are the only time I have to Squidoo sooo Squidooing suffers but, the pounds stay off. Stay happy squids.;)

LOL - One would think we could lose weight by Squidooing, but I think the lack of sleep is really not too helpful!
  • poutine Jan 31, 2010 @ 9:52 am | delete
I wish I could figure out a way to lose weight by Squidooing.

If I was spending as much time for walking as I do for Squidooing,
I would have no problem with piling up the pounds ....EVER.

Thank you for the inspiration. Maybe you could do a lens on how to exercise while Squidooing. Squidoo is certainly helping to put the pounds on. Thank you for helping to reverse that trend.

This year I am making a commitment to lose exercise. guess the first lady is inspiring from afar. LOL
