Forgotten 80's Music, Movies, Television, Books, Magazines, Trends, & More
This site is all about the treasures of the 80s that have long since been forgotten by many people. It's about the television shows and movies you watched for a season and then forgot about. It's about the magazines you bought an issue or two of and then they disappeared from the shelves and you'd forgotten they ever existed. It's about the clothes, and the jewelry, and the shoes, and all the other fantastic things that made the 80s so special.
If you remember the 80's with fondness, and you would love to take a trip down memory lane and remember some of those things you'd forgotten about long ago, you're going to love this site!
My Favorite Forgotten Treasures Of The 80s
1. Stickers Magazine - This was a magazine that came out in the mid 80s. It was devoted to the sticker collecting craze that had swept the world's youth. Unfortunately, the sticker collecting phenomenon started to fizzle shortly after it came onto the market, so it changed its name to Stickers & Stuff in order to try to garner more readership. Sadly, this wonderful magazine only lasted about 16 issues before it was gone forever, but it will be in my heart as long as I live. So far I own 12 of the original 16 issues, and I'm still on the lookout for the other 4 (plus copies of the older ones that are in better condition or have the freebies that came with them intact!)
2. Jordache Purses - I think every girl I knew had one of these. There were many styles of purses made by Jordache in the 80s, but the one that my friends and I were all so crazy about were small kidney-bean or half-moon shaped purses with very thing spaghetti straps. They came in a wide variety of colors and had the famous horse head logo on the bottom right corner. Wow, I would love to find one of these! I had two as a kid, a black one with a white horse head and a lavender one with a black horse head. Oh how I loved those things!
3. Sugar Rush Bears - I never had these, but oh how I wanted some! They were jewelry made out of plastic gummy bears. There was a necklace and bracelet, and even a belt that had the gummy bears inside a clear plastic tube. I remember ads for them in Stickers Magazine, but since they weren't sold locally, I never got any of these. My parents weren't big on ordering stuff back then.
4. Scratch 'N Sniff Stickers - My friends and I all had albums full of these! In addition, we stuck them all over the backs of clipboards, Trapper Keepers, and everything else we could find. I think skunk was the most popular scent, but personally, my favorites were always jelly bean (especially the one from Mello Smello), spaghetti, pizza, banana split (Ba-naza from Matte trend) and popcorn (again, matte trend.) I also liked several of the Gordy brand scratch 'n sniff stickers. Boy, do I miss those!
5. Plastic charm necklaces. Boy, were these ALL the rage when I was a kid! These were plastic chains in all colors with plastic charms that you could hang on the chains. The chains also came bracelet and belt sized, and there were also really fat rainbow-colored chains that I remember. My favorite charms were the baby bottle, lipstick, toilet, toothbrush, and roller skate.
