Twilight Forks Tour

If you are planning to travel from Seattle to Bremerton via the ferry system (highly recommend for the scenery), ferry schedules change from time to time.

Leaving Seattle, visitors cross Puget Sound by ferry boat; landing in Bremerton, Washington.

Bremerton is located in Kitsap County, a county where we suspect nomadic vampires stop in for a bite now and then ... or so it was hinted at in the movie Twilight. Just so you know, Kitsap County Sheriff's office ruled out all of the Cullen family as suspects.

Living in Kitsap County, I really can't think of a better place to start the tour than from my own back yard on the Olympic Peninsula.

For Layman, Kenny, Nicole, Jan and Connie, I wish you all were here to share in the excitement of Twilight in the Pacific Northwest. To Louise, thank you for being a good sport and going with me to Forks without question. To all the devoted Twilight fans out there, as I write, I'm always thinking of you and hoping you enjoy this journey. Seattle to Bremerton: 55 minute ferry crossing

Port Angeles

Knowing she has a date to the prom with Mike, Jessica tells Bella:

"... we need to hit the stores in Port Angeles before the dresses get cleaned out."

Port Angeles: A must see on your way to Forks and La Push. 

Port Angeles is where  Bella and her girlfriends went shopping for prom dresses; where Bella got lost looking for a bookstore; and where students from Forks High School, including Bella, went to the movie theater.

It is also in Port Angeles where Bella has her first date with Edward at La Bella Italia restaurant after Edward rescued her on a deserted street in Port Angeles. Bella ordered  mushroom ravioli and a coke for dinner.

Coming from Port Angeles, visitors will notice an "Outfitters" advertisement sign on the right side of the road just past the Welcome to Forks sign.

It isn't far past this sign and to your left that you'll find Thriftway - the Thriftway in Twilight where Bella shops; and where Stephanie Meyer, author of  the Twilight saga books visited with her sister Emily in 2004. 

On Stephanie Meyer's website she remarks that she still has the Thriftway receipt she got on her visit to Forks, WA. She goes on to say that her and her sister Emily were  "... driving up side streets until we found a house that could have been Charlie's, and then turning the car around only to find a beat-up, once-red, early-fifties Chevy truck parked across the road."

After entering Thriftway, you will find a corner full of Twilight memorabilia. When I visited, there was a large selection of sweatshirts in many colors to choose from, among other souvenirs. I like the sweatshirts so much, I bought one for myself as a gift to me ... and yes, I still have my receipt.

This private residence in Forks, is located on the last road you'll come to when traveling south on 7th Avenue in Forks, WA.

Because the home closely resembles Charlie and Bella's house in the book Twilight, the owners volunteered it to be the "Swan's home" in Forks, WA.

However, the home is a private residence; therefore, visitors are asked not to trespass on the property.

Fans are welcome to take pictures of the Home of the Swan's sign and of the front of the house from the street.

Please respect the owner's privacy.

(For some reason, this was the most difficult of all the places for us to find, but it was worth it!)

Notes from Esme to Twilight fans who stop by the "Cullen's house a.k.a   Miller Bay Inn Bed and Breakfast  are posted regularly.

As of the date of this writing (October 2011), Twilight fans are welcome to step up on the porch to take a picture of Esme's note on the whiteboard. However, fans are asked not to enter the "Cullen's" home, unless they have reservations to stay at the inn. Please respect the innkeeper's request so Esme will continue to leave Twilight fans a note.

The day I was at the inn, Esme's note read: "The Cullen's have gone hiking in the mountains." (All notes left by Esme conclude with:  "Our overnight guests will be cared for by our resident inn keepers, as usual. Thanks, Esme.")

In a book I purchased in Forks at Thriftway (where Bella shops)" Twilight Territory, A Fan's Guide to Forks and La Push, by Chris Cook ", a Forks Forum Editor, there is a photo of the whiteboard which reads: "The Cullen family (and Bella) have gone to Fairbanks, to check out the University of Alaska.

Another of Esme's notes posted on KalebNation.com: "In Honor of Edward's Birthday, we are doing a road trip with the Mariner's Baseball team. We might pop in at the softball game at the park, however. Watch for us!"

At 3-Rivers Resort, a sign is posted for all to see showing the vampire threat level.

Want a Twilight menu? They have one here in the restaurant.

Want to surf but don't have the equipment? Talk to the people in the store. When I was there October 2011, they had surf rental equipment.
La Push area has waves almost year round. Call and talk to the folks at 3-Rivers if you have surfing questions or stop by for a visit.

Want to stay in a cabin? 3-Rivers has several of them. When I was there Jacob's Den "cabin" was available for rent.

You never know who's going to walk in the door, but with the Treaty Line sign out front, I doubt you'll see too many vampires hanging around here, but you could bump into a few people from Jacob's tribe.

If you are a fisherman or hunter, don't forget to stop in the little store to look at the pictures on the wall of recreational hunters and their fish or game, or visit 3 Rivers Resort on Facebook.

Quillayute River Webcam

This image is of the Quillayte River. In the background you can see a great sea stack called James Island.

According to Forks Washington Timber Museum: ... "It wasn't an island until the Corps of Engineers rerouted the Quillayute River, isolating James Island from the village."

"No people outside of the Quileute tribe are allowed on the island." - Wikipedia

It was on First Beach in La Push, where Jacob told Bella the old story of the "Cold Ones" and the treaty between the Quileute and vampires.
