    Some really good info here however; if health boards is on your list as a good source of posting for links and traffic you should remove it for they do not allow advertising of any kind nor even a low keyed, shadow boxed reference to a commercial url. They won't even allow a signature with a link in it.

    This is a great squidoo lens. I enjoyed learning more about forums and how to use them as a marketing strategy. Forum backlinks are a great source of Google juice. Unfortunately Google isn't considering them to be as valuable as they once were... but if you have enough of them, it will help. Personally I send profile and forum links to my tier 1 and tier 2 links. Thanks for your service to the squidoo community.

    Very Nice. I only use the SquidU forum right now. I've tried gamespot before but they don't allow you to have links on your signatures. I've tried placing a url into the signature but that just came up as text. Sticking with SquidU for now.

    I have a question for you. (BTW you have a very informative site here. You have a lot of interesting lenses.) The question is: why am I always taken to the top of my lens when I hit the reply button after someone has left me a comment.? I am new to this and I thought a module would come up to let me leave a reply under a visitor's comments. Thanks for any help and keep up the good writing.

    Yes some forums do not allow signatures, I have tried to mention this as appropriate, but forums are constantly changing their rules and it is impossible to keep up. Thankyou for the heads up. :)

    Note- The Fan forum under Pop Culture & Celebs doesn't allow for any advertising except for the web site URL in the profile section. Can't post anything in signatures like we can here. Just letting everyone know... :)

    Sometimes you do join sites and then realise they arent for you, there is no downside, infact it can even be a good thing. If you later decide to rejoin you are guaranteed your username! (very important for branding)

    I clicked on Humor since I'm a cartoonist. Arrived at "NewGrounds" and spent about half an hour filling out stuff. But when I'd finished, I realized that it just wasn't for me. So, I looked all over for a way to unjoin...but couldn't find one. Is there a downside to being a member of a place like NewGrounds...but not participating?

    Yahoo Answers has great potential, I agree with you Pastiche, I receive alot of traffic from Yahoo Answers, but its one downside is all of its links are NoFollow.

    I have a Squidoo Tips lens the talks about using forums too. You have taken using forums to the next level-actually fully explaining it and giving lots of resources. I am going to lensroll this lens above. I am favoriting this wonderful resource!! BTW, I use Yahoogroups and Cafemom for some of my forums. Thanks for sharing this on tagfoot.

    Good information and tips for getting link traction. I like the long list of resources you shared here as well. Yahoo answers is another "forum" to explore for deep linking potential between questions and lenses with the answer.
