How to Create a Forum Signature for Discussion Boards

So are you an avid purse collector, a photographer, an eBay store owner, or a casual seller? You want to choose what you would like to have your signature link to that would benefit you. For example, if you own an eBay store, you should link to your eBay store home page. Or, if you casually sell on eBay and you may not always have items available for users to view, you can link to your "about ME" page. You can also link to off-eBay sites! Be sure to read this eBay page for all of the rules on what is allowed for a signature. Choose a URL that you would like your readers to visit!

You will most likely want to use a photo host to upload your images online for your forum signature. There are plenty of free photo hosting websites, like Photobucket. Start a free account there, and you can quickly upload images from your PC.

Getting Started

Log into your account to make your forum signature. Click on the "Community" tab, then click on the "Discussion Forums/Workshops" Link. From there, click on any discussion board you wish to visit. After entering the discussion board, click on the "settings" link on the far right. This page should have a blank box with the words "your signature" above the box.

Paste the following code into the blank box:

<a href="your_url_here"><img src="picture_url_from_your_photohosting_company_here" border="0" /></a>

Where it reads "Your URL here" place your URL (your website address) in between the quotation marks. Then, take a direct link from your image hosting account. This will be in .jpg format. Paste the link from the image in between the "your url from your photohosting company here" quotations. You can add any text after the code or before and it will show up in your signature. This is easy!

If the code requires BBcode, you can simply type in this code:

[url=http://www.yourdomain.com]Text Goes in Here[/url]

Just replace the http://www.yourdomain.com part with your actual domain that you are linking to, along with the text that you'd like to have displayed. To make it bold, add the [b] bold tag before everything and the [/b] end bold tag after the [/url]. You can learn more about bulletin board code here.

Test your forum signature by posting in a forum. If your signature does not come through, check to make sure you are copying the text right from the code above. Also check to make sure your image URL is correct. If you have any further questions, feel free to visit one of the discussion boards.
